I have a beautiful fence installed mid August of this year when it was 100'F outside. The treated wood has finally turned a wonderful golden yellow and I want to preserve that color. Transparent UV stain with mildewside should do the trick, but the instructions recommend using your "wood cleaner" product first? Will that prep step change the color of my fence? I like it the way it is. Is the prep step needed on 4 month old wood?

Hello hyteck9,
Thank you for your interest in our products. Our wood cleaner should not change the color of the wood. Our Cleaner is mainly designed to clean the wood and open of the pours of the wood in order for our stain to adhere properly. However, please keep in mind our Natural Transparent Wood Finish is not completely clear and does have a slight tint to it, which can possibly change the color of the fence. I would suggest testing our wood finish in a small portion of the fence to see if you like the final finish.
Best regards,

Yes, I don't see why not but wondered why you didn't instead go with Behr's color finish instead of the transparent which would have been a lot less work on your part.

Answer:
Hello Chris,
Thanks for your question. Yes, this wood finish of ours can be applied to multiple types of wood, including pine siding. Since we don't make a polyurethane coating, we wouldn't be able to comment on how well one will work. Our wood finish can be expected to last up to six years on siding. Please follow all label instructions. Best wishes for your project!

Answer:
Hello gg,
Thanks for your question. We can recommend this product on pressure treated wood after the injected chemicals have a chance to air out (typically 6-8 weeks, but please check with the wood manufacturer or vendor for their exact timeframe). Then, you would prep the wood as the label states before applying the finish. Well wishes for your project!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Stuff!! Stellar on verticals. Pretty good on horizontals. I've used it on a fence & deck at my last house 9 years ago in Tennessee. That fence still looks awesome. I used it on my current fence 4 years ago in Indiana. That fence still looks awesome. You might have to touch up the horizontal planks on a deck after a few years. My current deck in Indiana has fared better than my previous deck in Tennessee. Current deck is four years deep and may need a touch-up next summer on the horizontal planks. The previous deck in Tennessee needed a touch-up after two years, but held up well for 3 years after that. In both cases I applied the product with rollers and brushes. It's too expensive for over-spray waste.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth it, EVER! Worst product ever. The stain is already peeling!!! It's not even been a full year. Our deck is old and we spent several weekends cleaning and preparing our wrap around deck, including pressure washing. We did this last summer and applied 2 coats. In between the coats we waited a full 24 hours before the next coat. Now it's fully coming off. Some of our old wood was rotting so we had to replace them, clearly this horrible product cannot even work with brand new wood. Don't ever buy this product if you want it to last. I seriously want my money back because this product is not cheap and it didn't even do the job right.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cover Bare Wood With This Behr Built a small deck for our back door with pressure treated pine. I let the wood dry out for a few months and then it was time to stain. After some research I decided on this product. I prepped the wood with Behr All in One Cleaner, power washed, and light sanding to knock down any splinters from power washing. Here are some pros and cons from my experience: Pros: *Product works well - water beads up on surface *Very please with the color *Clean up was easy - water base *Penetrates the wood Cons: *Can be difficult to apply - I am very meticulous and want my finish to be completely uniform. This product behaves like a paint in that if you are not careful your brush strokes will show but it also behaves like a stain in that it will leave lap marks if you paint over an area that has already been painted. Despite these drawbacks I was still able to get a finish that I am very pleased with. A couple of pointers: *Do not skip the prep work - make sure the wood is ready for stain (read the instructions) *Paint with the grain (this is not a wipe on wipe off stain-you paint it on and leave it) and complete your strokes. *Keep a wet edge and complete one whole board at a time. If you apply product to only part of the piece and then come back to finish it there will be lap marks - the part you did previously will be darker. *Do more than one coat (I did two with one gallon)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Looking #501 Cedar Naturaltone Transparent Weatherproofing Wood Finish This is what I stained my cedar wood fence with about 3 years ago. It still looks good and my son liked it so well we stained his fence with it. He took pictures and told his coworkers about it and they used it on their wood fences. I added to my fence and the old stain looks as good as the fresh stain. You can't tell them apart. I highly recommend this on a new wood fence or if you are doing an old wood fence. It is very long lasting and looks great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Be Very Careful I was very careful to apply this as stated on the can, even waited 24 hours to apply the second coat not the minimum 2 hours. Was supposed to dry within 72 hours and after 2 weeks it is still tacky. The company said to wash it down with hot soapy water and give it 3 more days, I did and it's still tacky. Now they say it may never dry and needs to be taken off, if you are going to try this product test it in a small area first and save yourself a lot of work and headache.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Should have stayed in bed It took me two weeks to prep my deck. A newer deck. Power washed it. Then used the deck cleaner to get out all the stains. Then waited until the deck was completely dry. Stained on a cooler cloudy day. It looks terrible. Uneven coverage. Probably user error, but I have to sand it all back and try again. What a huge waste of time and money. I have stained at least a dozen decks in my past, so this isn't my first rodeo. So disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks Great Cordovan Brown tint, transparent stain. Easy to brush on, but very "watery" as it runs and drips very easily. After brushing to even out, it dried with a consistent color. Does not cover a great amount of fence, two gallons used on 40 linear feet x 6 foot high cedar fence and gate (both sides) ..
