Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Stained deck railing and frame I got this solid stain color matched to my siding and brick limewash (Benjamin Moore White Dove). Went on smoother than expected, almost looked like paint. When first applied the tint looked bright white, but as it dried, began matching the siding on my house very well. There was some tannin bleed on the first coat (and second coat for some of the lumber). Once dry, an additional coat covered the tannin bleed. Almost used a traditional latex paint, but a friend steered me towards a solid stain. Looks like paint, but doesn't have a sheen to it. I'll keep my fingers crossed on the 25-year guarantee. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 worst I have ever seen or used I built a new deck and let weather for 1 plus years before applying this product following each step to the t. Within 1 week it began to peel and only got worse from there. Behr kindly {sic} sent e 10 gallons and the wash to redo the project. This did nothing for all the labor to remove this so called 10 year warranty product. Well it looks even worse now and I have countless hours already ivested and many more to go. I would not use this garbage. August 3, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Why can't I clean this deck? We purchased our home last fall. One of the main features of the house is a 3 level, 1000SF deck. After a rough winter the deck was in need of refinishing. After lightly pressure washing, sanding and cleaning the deck, it was finally ready for application after properly drying out. 6 gallons and 2 weeks later the deck was completely done and looked like new. We just hosted an outdoor cookout for 20 people, including 8 young kids and a couple of dogs. The kids being active, tracked a lot of surface dirt onto the new deck. After first only hosing the deck down,it still looked terrible. Then we wet scrubbed the deck and hosed again. The dirt won't come off. This is the first deck I have ever owned in over 30 years of home ownership that won't come clean. I don't want to use a chemical cleaner. Recommendations would be appreciated. July 17, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by It might last 3 or 4 years. Ok. Don't just take my word for it. Check out other paint reviews from professional contractors and DIYr's alike on sites such as Consumer Reports,Behr and so on. You will see, from accounts from others, this product does not adhere well. Cleaning and prep is critical before applying this product...don't skimp on that. After application, the deck looked wonderful. After a couple a years this "premium" product did show signs of wear. Then, after 3 years it began to peel slightly in some areas. Its been 4 years and the stain looks ok, but don't expect it to look like new after a couple of years time. The next time I'll try CR best buy recommendation for the less expensive Behr Solid Color Waterproofing Wood Stain. It'll save you 7$ a gallon and you'll get longer life out the stain. April 7, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Really Great Product I stained my new pressure treated front and rear porch with this stain 2 1/2 years ago. I used the Behr brightener, filled all nail holes with putty and sanded everthing with 120 grit. I applied two coats. It looks just as good today as the day it was completed. Guests always ask me if it is the plastic decking as it looks so good. The decks are exposed to some sun here in North Carolina but no fading or mildew has taken place. This is one of the best products I have ever used. June 20, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Great for fences, not so good on decks VERY disappointed in product on the deck. After only 1 year the whole deck is peeling, even the part under a covered pergola. Redwood deck was prepped correctly using deck wash, but that didn't seem to matter. Other reviewers had this same issue, and I wish I would have listened to them. I chose this product because it washed up with soap, so I thought that would be much easier than oil based stain. BIG mistake, now I have a lot of work ahead of me trying to remove all of this stain before I can start over with a new product. I will mention that I also did use this product on cedar fencing, and there so far no problems there and it looks terrific a year later. Would only recommend for fences, not redwood decks. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Looked great for one summer It looked great for one summer but now here I am doing it again this summer. It peeled up like paint on the surface but the rails seem to be OK after one year. June 11, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best All-In-One purchase ever My backyard had new deck and fence since 7 years ago, I used transparent wood finish to have nature redwood color, after 7 years the paint looks a little bit ugly; I consulted to friend and who recommend to use Behr All-In-One wood stain & sealer, it is satisfaction guaranteed 10 years for deck and 25 years for fences, there are plenty of solid color available; I choiced Bright Tamra color and spent one day to completed job for my deck and fence; it is worth investment to keep my deck and fence looks a brand new.
