Water clean up only. Do not let it set too long on your equipment as it becomes firm very quickly.

Answer:
Hello sissy77,
Thanks for your question. This product is water-based, and so we recommend soap and water cleanup. As long as the prep and application steps are followed per the label, then we wouldn't expect there to be peeling.
Best wishes for your project!

Answer:
I have applied this to cedar siding on my house which is in 4 x 9 sheets. Originally this siding was light in color after application the tone was richer and leaned to a reddish cast. Not all cedar is the same when it comes to color. You might want to try it on a small area first. When hand brushed the finish after two coats had a slight sheen to it. I would call it egg shell in texture.

Let the fence dry over night and apply two coats of Bear model #501 coating with a brush or sponge pad. NOTE: the sponge pad is great for flat surfaces but edges will require brushing. Application from a brush or pad pushes the product into the small cracks that form in the wood and allows the product to last the life expectancy indicated on the container. Spraying or rolling the product on is not as effective and reduces life expectancy. THIS PROCESS WORKS EQUALLY AS WELL ON WOODEN HOUSE SIDING AND DECKING. GOOD LUCK! Read Less

Dear Buster,
Two thin coats are required when applying our BEHR Premium Transparent Weatherproofing All-In-One Wood Finish. On new wood, we recommend using a product such as BEHR Premium All-In-One Wood Cleaner to remove mill glaze and open the pores of the wood. Lightly sand any remaining wood fibers/fuzz. Please follow all label instructions. Good luck with your project!

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 59 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by paint quality I have had this coating on my deck and house siding for 4 years. Its color has remained constant. It has kept my treated lumber deck from developing surface cracks. By the way the lumber on my deck is over 30 years old. I have not always used this product during that time frame but of the 3 others I have used it is the best and by far the easiest to clean up. One note of caution, I have sprayed it, rolled it on, and brushed it on, Two coats, brushed on is the only way to go if you want it to last. Power washing before coating helps with the life expectancy. Good Luck. July 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Made a 10 year old fence looks like new When we moved into our house about 2 years ago there was a ceder fence installed. It was very gray. This year I power washed it. Was shocked how clean it came out. After this to protect it I used this product. I am not sure if if it was because our fence was cedar or because of the age but I went though 24gal of this Bahr to cover about 40 panels front and back. Each panel is 4'x6'. Went over 2 times what it states it would cover. To apply it I used a Wagner PaintReady System High-Volume Low Pressure. It worked great. If doing a fence I would recommend a sprayer with this product. Read some people has issues using a sprayer. Not sure if this only works with some sprayers so that is the reason I listed what I used. Very much recommend you have these shaken up at at store before using. I bought a small sample can and found out that there is heavy separation at the bottom. Hard to stir in. Trying that with a 5gl bucket would have been a lot worse. I love the face lift this gave to our backyard. This stuff is so easy for cleaning! July 19, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I love BEHR stains and paint. This was easy to mix and apply. Deck looks great. We will see if it looks this good after 4 years (warranty period). I was able to use a deck sprayer to apply on the rails. And I used the Renuvo deck staining tool for the floor. Worked out great. It stained a lot darker than the picture on the can showed. but still looks good. May 25, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful color Our project turned out beautifully. The color was the best match to what we needed. Application was so easy. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] June 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love the results Extremely pleased with this product. T-129 Chocolate was the color I choose and was a bit apprehensive after the application. Directions advised 72 hours to cure and once the time had lapsed the color was perfect. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] June 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Reliable Wood Finish Product Refinished the 2 decks in my backyard last weekend. I have been using the Behr premium transparent weatherproofing Cedar Naturaltone no. 501 product for many years. Each application has continued to provide protection for many years. Cleanup is a breeze. I would highly recommend it to all. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] June 22, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not worth it, EVER! Worst product ever. The stain is already peeling!!! It's not even been a full year. Our deck is old and we spent several weekends cleaning and preparing our wrap around deck, including pressure washing. We did this last summer and applied 2 coats. In between the coats we waited a full 24 hours before the next coat. Now it's fully coming off. Some of our old wood was rotting so we had to replace them, clearly this horrible product cannot even work with brand new wood. Don't ever buy this product if you want it to last. I seriously want my money back because this product is not cheap and it didn't even do the job right. February 25, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't purchase this if you live in the NR Couple of issues with this stain. 1. Very difficult to apply, it had a lot of streaking. If you are familiar with Oil Stains, you will hate this stain. 2. Everywhere on the deck that was exposed to the rain is now pealing off the deck. The stain was applied on a new cedar deck in August, we had a lot rain this year in the NW and it is now March. That is 8 months. The good thing, we can strip it with house water pressure.
