Answer:
Yes. I sprayed this product with a Graco 495 with a 517 tip on full bore. No problems, worked like a champ. Spray product on and backroll with a 3/4 nap. Didn't even need a brush. Spraying this product is my preferred choice for this product... pressing a 9" inch roller into concrete all day gets old real quick.

Answer:
I wouldn't recommend using a sprayer--a good stiff masonry brush is best for the 1st coat, then roll on the second, and you'll have better results on your project and MUCH LESS wear and tear on your sprayer system. This is a thick product and might clog your sprayer.

Dear Moogie1005,
The Basement and Masonry Waterproofing Paint can be used with an airless sprayer @ 2,200-3,200 PSI using a .023"-.025" spray tip.

Is it advisable to put on a primer coat before applying ? It will be going on concrete block foundation walls. Would KILZ be a good choice ?

Hello Speedyboy,
Thanks for your question! Yes, if interested in a primer from our sister company Kilz for your foundation walls, I would recommend the Kilz 2 Latex Primer: http://www.homedepot.com/p/KILZ-2-5-gal-White-Water-Based-Latex-Multi-Surface-Interior-Exterior-Primer-Sealer-and-Stain-Blocker-20000/100116594.

Answer:
You don't need to do that, as this product is made to be applied directly to bare concrete. Priming would be overkill, and a waste of money.

Hello rebec,
We appreciate your question. Actually, none of our products are meant to be mixed with sand. For uneven walls, that would need to be repaired with wall patching material and possibly some sanding and cleaning. You might reach out to Home Depot for a repair product and process. Then, you could prep the surface per the label instructions of our paint and apply it.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 32 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Coverage Coverage over existing paint excellent. Easy cleanup. Another quality product from Behr. October 3, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Covered Well, Satisfied Used this product to repaint previously painted basement walls. I did this for aesthetic purposes rather than waterproofing as I have had no water issues. I scrubbed the walls with white vinegar and water solutions and scraped any loose paint and cement off. The paint covered well with two coats. Used a 3" brush and 9" semi-rough surface roller. I found it went on very smoothly and looked great after two coats in most spots. My son tested his paintball gun on the walls a few years ago. That was difficult to cover and took about four coats. The smell was not overpowering and everything washed up easily. Recommend. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works better than all of the others!!! I have spent over $2,000 on water seal products for my basement so was not sure this would work. I bought the major brands for my 1,000 square foot basement and they were not much more than paint on the walls. This is more than paint it has some grit to it that will stick to the walls. I scraped the walls before applying to get a good seal. I asked the nice gentleman at the Paint Counter to put it in the paint shaker so it would mix nice. It is a great product. About the same price as the other name brands I have used but this one works. I also bought the InvisaFlow StealthFlow Gutter Downspouts ..they are the best! April 3, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wish I'd known about this before. The first time I waterproofed a basement, I used Drylock for the basement walls of a rental. It was very labor-intensive and I wore out several paintbrushes and energetic teenagers trying to work it into the crevices. A couple years later, I happened to run into a Behr rep in the paint department as I was looking for basement paint for my own home and he urged me to try the Behr product. Wow. SO much easier to apply--just roll on like slightly-thicker-than-normal paint. It was slightly more expensive, but more than paid for itself in lower labor costs. And it worked beautifully. A couple of years ago we had three years in a row of 100-year flooding. Our neighbors all had water in their basements, but ours stayed bone dry. We don't have to run the dehumidifier nearly as much now, either. I'm always looking for cheaper ways to do things, but this product is worth the extra pennies. December 22, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent performance and easy application! We purchased an older home with a leaky basement, and have tried a few different products to seal the walls. One waterproofing paint was so thick and sticky it was like painting with thick maple syrup. The second one didn't cover well and the smell was awful. I started to think we were going to have to hire a contractor if we were ever going to have a dry basement. After some serious frustration and quite a bit of money spent, we tried the Behr waterproofer. What a difference! The paint went on smoothly without any drag at all, even over some rough areas where the wall had been textured with sand. The coverage was great. It has been on the walls for a couple of months now and no water or moisture yet! Very pleased! February 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good product Good product, tried others Behr works well. Home Depot Stores are helpful. Veterans discount. February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great paint exceeded my expections!!! My daughter purchased her first home, and the garage walls showed some mold and effervescent. We cleaned the walls, read all the reviews on several companies. I had previously used another product to prevent water from entering my home. So I was surprised at the lack of odor. We picked almond cream. It took two coats, the color was great. The coverage was great. One tip I would say is to work the roller lightly, until the paint is applied, use more pressure when the roller is emptied, working the paint into the holes. Use a full roller to go over areas not completed covered. applied with a full roller. The garage is 14 feet high, I used an extension on the roller, and never climb a ladder. Covered wall great. It has only been up for day, but it looks wonderful. I would not hesitate to recommend this product. Second coat was done in half the time of the first coat. September 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks Great The application instructions were very good and I tried both a roller & a 4" brush to apply to my block basement walls. I found that I got better coverage filling the nooks and crannies of the porous block surface with the brush. The first coat took a little longer and required more effort than the 2nd coat. As the directions state, a 2nd coat was necessary for full coverage and good color. It also took much less effort and gave more coverage. I had some minor cracks that were filled in and visibly disappeared after the application. The odor was hardly noticeable and was completely gone the next day. I started in one corner and am working my way around the basement. The completed sections are brighter, easier to keep clean and are a major improvement in the appearance. April 23, 2015
