I have a beautiful fence installed mid August of this year when it was 100'F outside. The treated wood has finally turned a wonderful golden yellow and I want to preserve that color. Transparent UV stain with mildewside should do the trick, but the instructions recommend using your "wood cleaner" product first? Will that prep step change the color of my fence? I like it the way it is. Is the prep step needed on 4 month old wood?

Hello hyteck9,
Thank you for your interest in our products. Our wood cleaner should not change the color of the wood. Our Cleaner is mainly designed to clean the wood and open of the pours of the wood in order for our stain to adhere properly. However, please keep in mind our Natural Transparent Wood Finish is not completely clear and does have a slight tint to it, which can possibly change the color of the fence. I would suggest testing our wood finish in a small portion of the fence to see if you like the final finish.
Best regards,

Answer:
Hello Chris,
Thanks for your question. Yes, this wood finish of ours can be applied to multiple types of wood, including pine siding. Since we don't make a polyurethane coating, we wouldn't be able to comment on how well one will work. Our wood finish can be expected to last up to six years on siding. Please follow all label instructions. Best wishes for your project!

Answer:
Hi acyr693,
Our Transparent Weatherproofing Wood Finish should be thicker than water. When the stain is applied at 300-350 sq. ft. per gallon, the wet stain should be about 5.4 mils thick. Good luck with your project! - Sara

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 445 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT QUALITY I am very pleased with this weatherproofing sealant! It isn't exactly clear and does make kind of a caramel color on the wood which is fine with me. At least I know it lasts much longer than Thompson's (1 year only) . Oh yeah,be sure to cover around what you're painting very well because I assumed it would come off of vinyl very easily as long as I got it as soon as it happened. It STILL takes a lot of elbow grease to get it off the house! October 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked perfect I put this on new deck wood. I brushed on the rails and spindles. I trued to spray the decking but the material was not spraying even. This was a older sprayer so assume it was that. I ended up actually brushing it on. Allowed me to get into deck cracks and control the coverage. I used a 9 inch brush that I was able to screw onto a painters pole. Work great. September 20, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Berhr redwood transparent stain This so called stain is neither stain nor transparent. It is just paint. The sample in the store is nothing like what is on my deck. The transparent stain/paint is solid in color and very dark reddish color. I had the deck done by a third party and when I got home I was shocked by this horrible solid color on my new deck. Do not use this paint unless you like a very dark red semi gloss color. I wasted at lot of money on this horrible paint. Save your money!!!!! I check the reviews after this job was done. 1 in 4 reviews made the same comments. I bought this because I trusted Berhr products but not any more. June 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Behr premium / My deck is like new again! Perfect mix and match to previous color, I wasn't able to water pressure off some of the old, it had been on for 15 years, the flat deck took two coats, I rolled it in, then light sponged it. (Previously used Sherwin Williams & Olympic) this Behr product by far exceeds those! June 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I have about 650 linear feet of cedar fencing six feet tall that is about 7 years old. It had never been stained of sealed. I initially gave it a complete powerwash, followed by a thee day drying out period. Going by the estimated coverage on the can, I initially purchased 10 gallons which was a great under estimate. Before I was finished I purchased another 10 gallons, followed with another 4 gallons purchased for a second coat application as may be needed. The total purchased was 24 gallons total. I had to visit three stores in my area to secure this amount. My method of application was the Graco X5 sprayer which I highly recommend. If I had one complaint, it would be why Behr does not make this available in 5 gallon buckets instead of only in the one gallon size. October 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Really great product This Behr Latex Cedar Nauraltone weatherproofing stain was fantastic.I used it on my new back fence. It covered very easily and was easy to clean up afterward. A lot better than using oil based stain!! The color is magnificent as you can tell by the attached picture. Plan on doing the old side fences with this product next year. October 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Looks Great Cordovan Brown tint, transparent stain. Easy to brush on, but very "watery" as it runs and drips very easily. After brushing to even out, it dried with a consistent color. Does not cover a great amount of fence, two gallons used on 40 linear feet x 6 foot high cedar fence and gate (both sides) .. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible This is a horrible product. I am a wood finisher as a hobby - this is the worst finish I have ever encountered. Even though it is a petroleum-based mixture, it does a poor job absorbing into the wood, both cedar pickets and pine 2x4's on my fence. It does not absorb into the wood as much as it cakes on top of the wood. I applied this with a quality sprayer that I have used successfully before. I chose the cedartone finish and applied it to a new cedar fence. The final result is a dark redwood finish. This product can not be sold to consumers in good faith. February 29, 2016
