Customer Questions & Answers

I am so upset. Why do I have a white milky finish all over my patio? I wished I had read the reviews before I bought.

Followed the directions. Nothing looks good. My patio looks worse.

From January 2013 to the present, I successfully used this product on three different occasions. I made sure I was mindful of the weather, that I had a good understanding of the instructions and took my time doing the prep work prior to using this product. The results were fantastic... Since I had a large area to cover, I divided the project into smaller sections and applied the sealer a section at a time. This gave me the opportunity to observe the curing process and correct any mistakes. This takes a little more time to apply the sealer overall but the end result is worth it.

I am really upset with the finishing of BEHR wet look sealer

I prep and dye my concrete days ago . After applying the first coat of BEHR sealer the floor was looking great, however after applying the second coat, I notice that there were several areas that look milky white . How can I solve this problem without having to strip my patio. BEHR please help me solve this problem. When I was buying the product this morning a customer told me that he has this problem and try to tell me not to buy the BEHR sealer but I did not listen now I am really upset.

How long did you wait before you applied the second coat? You need to provide that information. I use this product a lot. I put the first coat on, wait 12 hours, then apply the second coat with a roller. In areas where it might pool (cracks gouges) I soak up the excess with a paper towel once the surface is semi walkable (a few hours)

I have a spayervto apply the sealer, do I just spray the are or do I use the sprayer and a brush?

Asked by: buttercup
Hello, Great question. Once it's sprayed, we suggest backrolling with a roller for uniform thickness. Best regards, Kevin

5-gal. Wet Look Sealer is rated 2.5 out of 5 by 207.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Extremely Disappointed (-) milky white when follow intstructions and applied at 70 degree day. This will require a complete re-do of over 2000 sf of concrete. (+) by using a hand sprayer for no greater than a 100 sf area and then quickly and firmly rolling out the sprayed area within 30 to 60 sec of applying spray it achieved the polished look. Moral of the story is the product directions are not well explained and I am out hundreds of dollars and multiple days time to fix. The milky look is just UGLY! I purchased this product under the recommendation of the paint department representative at Home Depot. I was told that I would get a nice clear sheen on my concrete patio. Instead, I got a white film over my newly stained chocolate colored patio floor. This product ruined the stain job which in order to get the nice clear coat sheen finish I was looking for, we will need to re-stain the patio. This product should be recalled so that no one else has to go through the same thing. This mis-representation of the products outcome is costing us an additional $450.00 to have the patio redone.

It doesn't deserve one star! i applied this according to instructions to new patio pavers. The entire patio wound up discolored, covered in white milky blotches everywhere. After unsuccessfully trying several recommended remedies, I posted a negative review. I was contacted by a Home Depot rep who said to use paint stripper and they would reimburse me up to $100 for the cost of the stripper. Needless to say, it didn't work. Now I have to replace $3000 worth of what were once dark charcoal grey pavers because of this lousy product. Instead of providing $100 for paint stripper, that should provide me $3000 to replace the pavers their product destroyed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor product First. I use Behr for my painting needs and normally a good product. I have a stone mason that recently used this (4 gallons total) for a custom outdoor living area. Flagstone. They normally use a product from a stone yard but thought this would have the same effect. As time passes - the appearance is white hazy look. I don't understand and very disappointed in this product. They used it correctly and are subject matter experts when using this product. On another note - the stain/sealer for the arbor was wonderful! This stone sealer was horrible!

I've spent a ton of time pressure washing then waiting for the perfect 72 hour window of cool, dry, overcast conditions in order to apply this sealant to my 2 year old stamped concrete patio. I applied the sealer, very lightly, with a pump sprayer, then used a 1/4" nap roller as recommended on the packaging to roll out evenly the wet-look sealer. Mind you, this was over the top of a previous application from when the concrete was installed 2 years ago. Milky. Ugly, milky, blotchy finish. Home Depot recommended trying to even it out with Xylene...all that did was turn it to a gummy mess of white snot everywhere that I had to scrape off. Called my original concrete installers who asked me what I used to reapply it and the response was, "ugh, we make more money having to remove this Behr junk because it always, ALWAYS turns white on external projects, and we hate seeing a patio ruined like this." Next step, chemical stripping, reapply stain as needed, and have it professionally resealed. Had I gone with the pro in the first place my bill would have been ~$350, now I'm staring down the barrel of a $1,200 repair bill. Do NOT buy this product for external projects; despite following the directions 100% it failed miserably. And before anyone chimes in, the temperature was within directions, it was overcast (no direct sunlight), the surface was clean and had been dry for 48 hours, there was no dew on the ground or the concrete, I used a sprayer with very light distribution, and rolled it out with a low nap roller, all as directed. Junk, junk, junk. Behr should be ashamed of this product, and Home Depot should discontinue carrying it. Now, I contact the manager at H.D. and see what their policy is for making things right...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well I used about 2.5 gallons to cover 610 sf of stamped concrete. The contractor used a colored dry release agent for the stamping to match older concrete. I had absolutely no problems with this product. Went on easily and dried quickly. No cloudiness, milkyness or whatever. Those problems may be due to an issue with the concrete chemistry and not the product. I cannot be sure since im not a pro, but it worked and looks exactly how i expected. The only issue i jave is that it becomes slippery when wet. I expected that since the concrete is sealed against water. Overall im happybwith the results and am going back today to get two more gallons to reseal the old portion of concrete.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Results -- So far, so good We have between 4,000 to 5,000 square feet of 13-year-old stamped concrete including driveway, walkways & back patio. We had sealed it once before with another produce about 7 or 8 years ago. Was starting to get pretty shabby looking and losing its luster and color and even starting to chip in spots. Thought we'd take a chance at sealing it again and try Behr Wet Look Sealer. Purchased 15 gallons. The product appeared milky (almost lavender). We applied the product using rollers in about 78 to 80 degree weather. I used 2 coats following the instructions, and it came out beautifully. When we got to the back patio, I got creative and added a couple teaspoons of burnt umber tint and mixed well. Applied 2 coats as I did the driveway, and I was pleasantly surprised at the subtle color this added to the mostly grey stamped patio. It's now been about 3 to 4 weeks since we finished the project. The weather here in Sparks, NV can change drastically, It went from snow and cold to over 100 degrees. Also, a couple rain storms. Our concrete looks beautiful. Just don't know how long the product will last. Hoping for the best. Thanks for a great product that was fairly simple to apply! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
