Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by thick this is thick put two coats own and it is chipping off already did not fill cracks June 10, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome, awesome paint Used this paint on steps to our house. They have never been painted. We moved here 10 years ago and they were here then. One coat covered and supplied a non-slip surface. The paint has a pudding consistancy and takes some getting used to applying. It dries quickly, with a bit of a gritty finish. It has a potent ammonia smell, especially when first opened--BUT--the results are worth it. January 7, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very Durable Exterior Paint This paint covers everything in one coat even though it says to use two coats. I picked this color because my house is the exact same color but was put on in a stain. I used this paint for touch ups on my house and blended right in with the stain and you can't tell the difference between the stain and paint, The only con I didn't like of this paint is that its a little too thick. You probably can add a little water to the paint but I did not, otherwise this paint is a very good product. October 2, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not very good Resurfaced the entire deck in late summer of 2014. Nice and dry, three coats. Once the snow melted on the deck in March, every horizontal walking surface was already flaking off. When I took a low pressure hose to the deck to get the dirt off, the deckover came off with it. This stuff looks nice at first glance, but it didn't last 6 months. I'll never use it again, it's a waste of money. Regular house paint is superior to this stuff. March 16, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Best product for wood deck I disagree with most of the negative reviews on this product. I live in Georgia, My 11 year old wood deck is exposed to the sun with hardly any shade. It gets allot of extreme weather. Hot, humid, wet, cold, freezing rain, snow etc. Every Previous products only last two summers before it needs to be treated again. Deckover is on its third summer and still looks great. I expect it to last another two years. Some users experienced peeling but I have not. A good paint job is only as good as the preparation. The surface must be clean and dry for a good bond. Peeling means poor bond. I first treated my deck with a product called JoMax then thoroughly power washed with water. Then let dry for 24 hours before application. I did not use a roller I brushed on the product. A roller applies the product too thin in my opinion. I also used two coats and it turned out fabulous. We use allot of potted plants and the product also resists stains. A few word of warning however, don't apply in hot sun. It dries fast and your brush will load up. I used a large brush and had to clean it several times. March 12, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by mixed review I write this after waiting to see results over time. Last year I wanted to fix up my ugly old deck and I researched the different products that claim to renew your deck - Restore, DeckOver were the top ones I picked. I went with the DeckOver because I didn't really like the gritty reviews for the Restore. I wanted to redo my deck, but did not want to spend for over 5 gallons of the stuff if it wouldn't work; you just can't undo this stuff. So, I decided to do my own test. I bought a gallon and picked several items to use it on and watch to see how it worked. I picked a picnic bench, and the handrail on my deck to test. That was last summer, everything was prepped as well as I understood, and dry conditions. After painting (which isn't the easiest because it is VERY thick, I don't even know how you could pour the stuff out into a pan to roll it on), and it all looked good after a thick first coat filling cracks, and a second coat. Now it is spring time and I am reviewing the results. The picnic bench has some flaking (it is outside year round), some spots I will touch up. The deck handrail is another story... wow, I am soooo glad I did not waste the time and money to do my entire deck! I thought I saw a wrinkle or something, and when I looked closer, saw that the paint was peeling. I pulled up SHEETS of this stuff, it just pulled right up off that handrail in 4' long strips!! I mean, NO adhesion! Now this handrail is old, dry wood, like 1 x 6; not thick like decking that might have held moisture longer than I knew. There are only small spots that the stuff has adhered to the wood. I do not waste my time painting without good prep work; I don't enjoy painting the same thing repeatedly, so I don't know what happened here, but I will not spend money on this stuff for the entire deck. I would be livid if I had spent all that time and money on doing the deck floor to have it peel off like the handrail paint did. My best advice to you is to do a test like I did. Pick a small project and test it using a gallon of this stuff before spending big bucks on 5-gallon plus for your whole deck. See how that works for you over time, then decide. My deck is on the west side of the house, and gets the afternoon full sun. I would have put the paint on in the afternoon, because of not wanted morning moisture to ruin the adhesion. I am puzzled, and dismayed, had hopes for a nice deck. Don't mind putting the time and money into it once, but I do not want to end up with my deck looking like the handrail does. It almost seems like it needs a primer coat first because neither of my test objects had the best adhesion, I don't think, from looking at it. May 10, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Worth the extra work Bought this because I did not like the gritty "other" deck restorer. Selected a color that was close to the trim on the house, and it looks very good. Applied this in the SUMMER in KANSAS and it worked out just fine. I should mention that the deck is in the shade after about 11 am. The deck had not been maintained at all by previous owner, who applied latex house paint to the deck. The worst part of this job was removing the peeling, blistering paint! Washed deck with power washer and let it dry a few days. There were some really large cracks, so I filled them with exterior wood filler first. Then I brushed deck over into the small and medium cracks and let it dry for a day. Used a small brush on spindles, which took a lot of time. Rolled flat parts with a 5/8 inch roller. Even in very hot weather, it dried fine with no discoloring. Because of the heat, I only worked on the deck in the mornings. This allowed almost 24 hours between two coats. The difference is amazing. I thought I might have to replace all of the deck boards, it looked so awful. Has survived winter looking as good as it did in June. February 20, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Went down easy good thick paint The pant was a pleasure to work with. I used a 3/4 poly nap roller to apply it. I used it on my trailer deck which is covered by 2x8x12 pt boards. I aloud it to sun dry for a month before applying the paint. It went on thick a filled many of the small cracks in the wood. It looks good. Like a rubber coat almost. The anti slip in the paint is very nice to I add a little more anti slip to the trailer it came out beautiful. I also painted my wife's rocking chair. She was a little worried about the abrasive ness of the paint, but it feels fine a it's ready for the hardest rain. This is good stuff. December 7, 2013
