Answer:
Hello Bmw9,
Thanks for your support of Behr products. For light dirt stains, we recommend using soap and water. If it's more difficult to clean, then there's the option to use a concrete cleaner/degreaser (even for wood surfaces). Be sure to test out the cleaner first to ensure it's working. Well wishes for your project!

Hi Kallen!
Thanks for writing in with your question. I'd definitely recommend stirring the paint for a good five minutes; this will allow all the solids to blend together. Hope this helps! Best, Jeanette P.

Can this product be used on an epoxy pebble-coat finish on a patio?

We have a concrete patio/pool deck that was covered with an epoxy mixture of aggregate pebbles about 20 years ago. Several areas of the pebble finish have broken away. We would like to patch them by troweling in a new mixture of pebbles, but the new colors don't match. So, after patching the holes, we would like to paint this product over the top for a uniform appearance. Would it work?

Rated 2.9 out of 5 by 1365 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked great on an old fence For a "deck" product, I really like this paint on fences and concrete block retaining walls. It does an impressive job of filling cracks and holes, of which my fence has plenty. It dries quickly, and quite hard, almost like a shell on the wood. I used a 5" brush (see below) and really put a thick coat on. When I did my initial tests, I think I laid it on too think, which left streaks. If you lay on a nice thick coat, it will run together and make a more even surface. Very impressed with this product, although I can't speak to it's use on a deck, it works great on old fences and concrete block.. September 17, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by RUINED MY DECK I prepped and applied exactly as instructions say approximately 5 weeks ago. I live in Upcountry Maui- the temperatures NEVER exceed recommended application temps, high or low, year-round. It looked great! 4 weeks later it started bubbling up all over the deck. Really nasty. Cracking and chipping can only be what lies ahead. The house is for sale and my big selling point is now a complete eyesore. I will have no choice but to give a buyer a credit to replace the whole deck. I am going to lose $5,000 by using $150. worth of this 'easy to use, miracle product'! Just sick after seeing all the similar complaints on this site and many others on the web. Wow, guess I am not alone. I don't think any other Home Depot product reviews have more 1-star reviews than any other star reviews. Point being- THEY KNOW this is a terrible product that is costing buyers HUGE amounts of money to remedy, yet they KEEP SELLING IT. October 7, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Buyer beware, poor product followed the instruction exactly, had to use two cans for a 10 x13 deck. the stuff is so thick. when I was finally finished it looked great, 4 months later and the paint is faded and gone in so many spots. won't buy this again. buyer beware September 9, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst product I've ever used We were so impressed with the demo at Home Depot that in 2013 my sister and I both purchased Deck Over and stained our decks. We both spent almost an entire summer on this project. After thoroughly cleaning our decks and letting them dry. We painted over the cracks and between each board with a paint brush as was suggested by the rep and allowed sufficient time for both coats to dry. Both decks look gorgeous for the remainder of that first summer. By spring 2014 the stain on both decks had cracked and started to peel. We could actually peel off the stain with our fingers. We touched up these areas only to have the same thing happen in 2015 and now in 2016. In addition, we were told the deck would be perfect for walking in on bare feet... It is not! This is very discouraging especially when my neighbors used a plain old deck stain and have much better looking decks. We were told the stain would last for many years and I have touched up my deck every year - what a waste of time and money. Several people asked why the deck looks like it does when it was recently stained and what I've used. I tell them but I also warn them it's a lot of money for very poor results. This product should last more than one year. Up to this point I thought Behr products were far better than other brands. After this experience I am not sure I will purchase Behr again. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Here we go again . . . pealing! This product was highly recommended by the Home Depot Paint Dept. Was told it would last for several years. I followed the preparation directions as stated. I spent days with the process. That was last summer . . . fast forward to 10 months later. it's peeling in many areas of our deck. I never intended having to prep and repaint our deck again this summer. More time and $$$. I believe we should be refunded at least the cost of the paint! July 3, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by don't buy This paint didn't even last a year. It is already peeling. July 27, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Deck Over Paint I used Rustoleum Restore in 2014. It started bubbling up (because of getting wet) within 6 months but we have lived with the chipping and pieces tearing off since then. About a month ago I started scraping it off and then used the Behr Stripper and then the Behr Cleaner and then I sanded it with my belt sander. I put two coats of Sable colored Deck Over on the deck. My question now is I can rub the deck with my bare foot and it leaves a white mark on the deck like someone used an eraser on it. Has anyone experieced this before? It doesn't look the best with the white marks. As far as people saying it was way thick and hard to roll on I did not have a problem with it. My deck looks great before the white marks. It sure covers up the small cracks. June 15, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible - Do not buy We applied this product and followed the directions exactly. After two years it needs to be completely redone. There are cracks in almost all of the deck boards (even in areas that are not walked on like railings) and big areas where the finish has come completely off leaving exposed wood. The staff at the local Home Depot store don't even recommend this when you ask them about it. I spent a lot of time and money on this, and now I'll be switching products. July 10, 2016
