Hi MLB2007,
Thanks for your question! It would be okay to coat over a wood filler, as long as it's a paintable filler. Good luck on your project! Best, Jeanette P.

Answer:
Hi MLB2007,
Thanks for writing in, and great question! DeckOver can be stored in a garage, as long as the temperature won't exceed 120 degrees, or go low enough to cause the product to freeze. Hope this helps! Best, Jeanette P.

Hi Ben,
Slate (SC-102) is a very dark gray shade. It's close to black, but not quite. Good luck with your future projects! - Sara

Hello Helihead,
Thanks for your question. Whether doing railings, spindles, or the horizontal deck area, we'd recommend applying two coats of this product. Please also be sure to follow all label instructions for best results. Well wishes for your project!

Rated 3.4 out of 5 by 910 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A product that actually works as claimed...Deckover! We finally decided that our 20 + year old deck was worth some TLC and a couple of coats of Behr Deckover. Our choice in color was Cappuccino. Strong recommendations of this product by sales associates at our local Home Depot store aided this decision. The extremely weathered condition of the deck made following Behr's application instructions to the letter all the more important. Behr's All In One Wood Cleaner in conjunction with a pressure washer provided a clean deck surface ready for the Deckover. Decided to apply the initial coat by brush, due to condition and numerous cracks. (not a task my old back would welcome again, anytime soon). Even with just one coat the result was impressive. Coat number Two, put on with a roller, went on without a hitch. The end results exceeded all expectations...our old deck looks new, bright, and provides a splinter free play area for two robust grandsons, age 5 and 3. Well worth the time and labor involved. Thank you Home Depot! Hints: Check the weather forecast rain "tomorrow" not so good. Also bright hot sun thickens Deckover more than it already is, keep out of direct sunlight if possible. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by didn't last one winter in Pa. We applied this on our deck in Oct 2013 following all prep instructions. We were careful not to put salt on the deck or any other ice melt. May 8, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by It looks great when you first apply it......but then.... This is not an inexpensive product. After letting it sit over night a white film appeared in random spots all over our deck. Whatever the formula for this product is, it is flawed. I read that the white stuff is surfactant like in soap. That is can be cleaned off but will repeatedly come back sooner or later. I do like the rough texture and look. But after reading all of the stories about people having problems with peeling in less than a year I'm afraid of what this is going to look like by next spring. May 24, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Too early to tell, but so far, so good I've had this applied on my very old, very weathered deck for about 2.5 weeks now in mid-June 2016, and so far, so good. It was applied in less than ideal conditions, in partial direct sun, about 80 degrees and low humidity. It had not rained for about 3 days and my moisture meter had the decking at under 8%. I brushed it on to apply it, on over 200 sq. ft. of decking, and also on some vertical surfaces. It was much easier to apply with a wide brush than with a roller. I also feel like you will be able to spread it more efficiently with a brush, and that more product will be wasted with a roller. It says not to apply if rain is expected within 24 hours. Unfortunately, it did rain about 26 or 28 hours after the second coat was applied. That wasn't in the weather forecast. Let's hope that's enough. The one main criticism I have so far is that the actual color is VERY different from the in-store brochure as well as the online color guide. VERY different. I originally wanted to do my entire deck in Cedar Naturaltone, which clearly is a light brown in the color brochure. You put it on and it's a bright glowing orange color. After I applied one coat of that on everything, I went to Home Depot and then got additional cans in plain Cedar to do the second coat on horizontal surfaces only. Railings and vertical surfaces I left in Cedar Naturaltone for the contrast. Even the Cedar color is quite far off from the color in the brochure, it's also a bit too orange. Now let's see if it stands the test of time. I have relatively cold winters here in the northeast and hot, humid summers. I like the texture very much, the matte finish is grippy. And it makes my several decades old deck look like new, almost like composite decking. July 1, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This stuff is c..". pealed up after one year Product was applied one year ago and it is pealing up this year making deck look like .... July 13, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Home Depot should pay to replace my deck I prepared my deck meticulously following the instructions. After 6 months, it started peeling. Now after 2 years or so it is an absolute disaster. I can peel off huge strips with my hands. I have uploaded a photo showing how horrible the peeling is. I think there is mold growing under the loose strips that I am peeling off. I can't enjoy my deck anymore it is such an eyesore. I can't believe they are still selling this product. My goal for this summer is to somehow get all of this off my deck or I will have to replace every board. This product is a disgrace and I can't believe I am stuck with this horrible mess. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible. So disappointed, hours of cleaning, hours of painting and it didn't last a whole year. Spring of 2015, I scrubbed my deck to remove all dead wood, splitters, grime and grunge. It's a second floor deck, with no access to the ground, only entry from our bedrooms. Followed Behr's directions to a T. As you can see from the photo, I might as well have used regular paint. Do not bother with this product, it's not worth the time and energy, you will put in, let alone the cost. The only area that it didn't peel in random spots was in the shade, near the house. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by won't last a full year Incredibly expensive, doesn't hold up to high sun and winter weather. Just spent the day power washing the loose stuff off. What hasn't already peeled off comes off in big chunks with little effort. I might just rake up all the pieces blown off the deck and send it back to BEHR. June 15, 2016
