The gallon that I purchased back in December is extremely thick. I don't know if this can actually be applied as is. I tried to mix it up by hand and then with an electric drill and mixing blade but it just seems extremely heavy. Any thoughts here before I put it on my hand rails and steps to the deck?
Asked by: gymchap
Hi gymchap, DeckOver’s consistency should resemble one similar to pudding. I recommend testing out the coating by applying it to a small area and seeing how it applies and holds up. It’s very thick paint, but if you feel that it’s too thick to use, we can work to have it replaced for you. This can be done by contacting our Customer Care department at 1-800-854-0133 Ext 2. Hope this information helps! Kind regards, Doris

I see it is not recommended for plywood.

How about for cross brace supported marine plywood on a pontoon boat deck
Asked by: Russ
Hello Russ, We appreciate your interest in the Behr stain. Unfortunately, I'd have to recommend against using any of our products, including this one, on a boat deck or on plywood of any kind. A boat deck environment can be such that it exposes the coating to wear it's not designed to take, and plywood can expand and contract with changing weather which may harm the coating's integrity. You might want to check with Home Depot for another brand that'd be better for your boat. Best wishes for your project!

II used behr deck over two years ago. I want to change the color Do i have to strip it before i chance the color or will it stick to it

Asked by: dodge
Hi dodge, Thank you for your question! We recommend sanding down the loose peeling paint and cleaning the surface before re-application.

1 gal. #SC-145 Desert Sand Wood and Concrete Coating is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 567.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not durable at all. Just applied Deck Over to our weathered deck. Pressure washed it first, applied as directed (though a $35 gallon of this stuff for just 75sq ft isn't exactly a lot of bang for your buck.) - two coats, did not walk on it for 4 days, no furniture or flowers pots for 5 days. Less than 2 weeks later, I have chipping on the edge of the steps and near the top of the stairs. There are also gouges where we moved our patio table over a few inches. It is a thick product that doesn't not have a smooth, nice looking finish. I regret using this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used this on bare wood porch that sat without treatment of any kind for 20 years. that gets blasting sun in front and intense shade in back. Sanded it,puttied a lot of areas then used DeckOver in dark green. Looks great, gives some traction and came thru the winter w/out a problem. Neighbors came over and oohed and aahed. Went on easy, pretty thick so unable to clean brushes. If one does the proper prep work goes on nice and dries quickly,2 coats and only took 2 galleons with some left over to do a wood door on the fence. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst paint Bought the restorative pain after a year it started to bubble. This year it all bubbled and we had to peel it off the deck and stain it. Waste of time and money. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing I painted my deck (wood) and front porch (cement) 4 years ago and the following year the paint was peeling and had fade spots. I re-prepped using degreaser, etcher, cleaner (all the steps recommended) and once again it's a mess. The paint is peeling, more faded spots. Looks worse than before I painted it. It was an incredible amount of work (twice) and still awful results. Very disappointed. Would never recommend this product to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Purchase I bought this product at HomeDepot two summers ago. This is all most 2 years now. I took the 1st picture two years ago and 2nd picture now almost 2 years later. It still looks new, no peel off and no fade. Very Good Product. Some people has the complaint, I think they are making some mistake at the time of preparation.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DeckOver peels off I used DeckOver in 2014 on one of my decks. It looked really great and still does. So in fall 2015 I purchased more and did another deck and steps. Well, something has changed. The 2015 coat is peeling all over the place, even though I used the same preparation method for both applications. What happened??? Now I have to sand everything off and I don't know what to use. I want my money back! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
