This ia another great Behr product. Easy to apply and was used on weathered raw wood. Applied one coat and it looks great. Also has primer+paint together which cut down

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Grandpa saved replacing all of a deck
Don't cut corners with surface preparation and cleaning. After power washing, replaced worst of old deck boards and flipped some over. Multiple ( 3-4) heavy coats filled in weathering and checks in 20 year old wood. New (replacement) wood required fewer (2) coats for similar final appearance. Applied easily with roller and extension handle but covering vertical edges between deck boards required brush and knee pads. Next time would try spraying vertical edges first with compatible paint for color match before rolling deck.

Can't believe I forgot to mention in previous review that part of the Captain Obvious prep is Powerwash! Let dry thoroughly, perhaps overnight. Sweep or blow the next day.
As for the verticals on the railings. . . those are Tough by their very nature. This is a Paint and it WILL drip if you overapply it on the verticals. Because it is Thick, you may not Think you overapplied. But gravity will do it's thing. Keep a good eye on those verticals. Do not overapply.
I say again, READ the can, read the Behr website. Learn about the product. They tell you Not to leave the can in the sun. I left it in the garage with the lid ON in between filling paint trays.
I stored brushes/rollers in the fridge in between uses. Hands wash up with water, soap, a little salt to scrub. Will not wash out of clothes. It's a Paint!
Still can't believe how Great my deck and porch look. Yes, it almost looks like wood composite but I am So Glad. No More Splinters! Great Product that does what it promises.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by lizz Fantastic tho labor intensive
short story: This is an acrylic Paint product, Not a stain so don't expect it to look like stain. READ the can, Read the Behr website re the product! Use 2 coats, check your colors. Ask your HD paint person to shake the 5 gallon pail Twice. Stir well before each use, prefill deep holes w woodfiller, flip bad boards over, use painters tape to protect your siding. This is NOT a weekend project unless you have perfectly sunshiney days, do the prep beforehand and have 2-3 people to work all day. If you live in the South, this is a Spring or Fall project. I am a 53 yr old woman and got heat stroke doing this in NC in June.
Long story: Lots of work, but Love the finished look. My deck is 14 yrs old. Paid 3 yrs ago for a professional to apply semi-opaque stain. Deck looked sad 3 yrs later. I wanted something to Really improve the looks and hopefully Last longer than 3 yrs. Bought Deckover in silver grey first. Didn't like the color, but used it anyway since it was paid for and they suggest 2 coats. Call it Primer. Then I picked the boot hill grey. AWESOME color. A dark driftwood sort of beachy effect that I Love. Yes, if you lean over your 5 gallon pail and open it you will get a face full of fumes. So open it and walk away for 2 min, then stir well or the sandy texture stuff will sink. Stir WELL before each time you fill your painters tray. I went round with a brush and filled the deeper knotholes, edges, cracks first, then my son came along with the roller. And yes, then I touched it up a few days later where he didn't do a good job, or there was show through. But I Love the final look. It has filled in the cracks in my deck and it looks like a totally different, Much Better deck! Yes, it is labor intensive, took 2 coats, touchup where needed, but the result is amazing! Looks great, feels great barefoot! I used it on all the railings, deck, front porch, some cedar planters, and my side stairwell. I pray it lasts a really long time and it sure looks like it will!

This product worked great on my deck and looks awesome. Good thing they packed cans in plastic bags because one leaked during shipping. This paint made my deck slip free.
