Can this be used on redwood furniture?

Asked by: Drewsgrammy
Hello Drewsgrammy, Thanks for your question. No, we wouldn't recommend DeckOver for use on furniture, but you could instead go with our Premium Solid Color Wood Stain. Please be sure to follow all label instructions for best results. Well wishes for your project!

Applied this product on 08/31/2013 (temp mid-80s) wood was not hot to touch and it was not applied in direct sun. I am putting on a new coat in late June 2017. I believe surface prep is key, as is allowing the wood to dry completely before applying this product. Mixing it with a high speed drill with a drum mixer attachment is big factor too. Also mixing it every hour seems to ensure the ingredients continue to be well blended . I like to use the brush versus a roller for the first coat -- takes a lot more time, but I coat my 800 sq foot deck over the course of several days. (usually three hours per day). High traffic area and top railing surface requires more attention and yearly touch-ups, but that was more cautionary versus a required action. First two photos are before/after pics from 2013. The next two are what the deck looks like today. I'll apply a second coat with a roller.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from bubble and peel galore Had a professional apply this product and iy ended up bubbling and peeling. We figured it was just a one time thing buy NO- they had ro come out and strip and reapply the ENTIRE deck, THREE different times before it even looked passable- not great in the least. Now, a year later, we have to do it AGAIN! Save your money and avoid this at all costs!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am amazed! I bought a fixer-upper house that had a terrible porch. Someone had used something that cracked, crazed and peeled and looked just awful. I was told to sand the porch before painting....but I am a senior citizen lady who is a do-it-yourselfer, and I just wanted clean! I bought the deck over paint in slate gray (similar to what was on the porch). I used a floor cleaner and washed the porch with a car brush, rinsed with the garden hose and let it dry a couple days. I then brushed in the small areas and roller painted in the large areas. I did a section of the porch at a time, and surprisingly, it dried to be able to walk on it in about an hour (even in humid weather). The paint has a "chlorine" type smell, but outdoors was not a problem. I loved that it covered over the cracks and crazes and I now have a clean and neat looking porch floor! It has a slip-proof feel to it and I am looking forward to doing the other porch. I have to say, I love the ease of applying the paint and I can't think of anything else I could have done for less work or less money.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I was not impressed The product went on as advertised and did cover more than I thought. It looked really nice for a week or so. Problem is I ordered in Sage which is lighter color and any dirty foot prints show bad. I thought it would just wash off but after 4 weeks I tried scrubbing the deck off and the foot prints will not come up. I used a good floor cleaner and medium brush but foot prints will not come off. I would not recommend this product for anyone with dogs or children who track dirt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A GREAT paint for my deck! I stated the deck paint was GREAT for my deck and concrete! The coverage was as advertised and easily applied. It did cover a lot of discrepancies in my deck planks and even helped it from splintering! Being in a wheelchair, it was smoothly applied with the rollers I received/ordered with it. A fantastic product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Satisfied Product was applied per label instructions. Deck is fifteen years old and previously treated with stains that did not last more than three years due to full sun of the Southeast. Product is now in the third season and shows no signs of wear on deck, stairs or railings. Most cracks and gouges were filled and remain that way, much to my surprise. Application rate was accurate, for me that was four gallons each time for two times. Drying time was less than four hours for first application. Slate gray dried slightly lighter and was planned for and was satisfactory. Contacted Behr with support questions and got information quickly and easy to understand. If I have another need I would use it again.
