Hello John,
Thanks for your question. Our DeckOver stain is not designed to stand up to the wear expected on garage floors, so we'd recommend against applying it there. You might instead consider our 1-Part Epoxy Floor Paint: http://www.homedepot.com/p/BEHR-Premium-1-Gal-PFC-20-Coronado-1-Part-Epoxy-Concrete-and-Garage-Floor-Paint-93001/203936906?keyword=behr+1-part+epoxy+coronado (notice: I gave a link Read More

For prep, we recommend removing any loose or peeled old paint, sanding the frayed edges of that coating smooth, lightly sanding any areas of the coating that are glossy, spot etching any bare concrete, cleaning the whole surface, spot priming any bare concrete with a product like our No. 880 Bonding Primer, and then applying the paint. Please follow all label instructions for best results, and well wishes!

Hello Chip,
Thanks for your question. Yes, it's okay that the deck was recently power washed, and yes, we would recommend prepping the surface with a product like our No. 63 Wood Cleaner which will open up the pores of the wood to promote adhesion. Please be sure to follow all label instructions, and best wishes.

Hi there,
Thanks for writing in, and sorry to hear Deckover has began to wear off. If the coating is worn in more than just one area, it's best to remove as much of the loose coating is necessary. Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 8 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Does Not Last Prepared the deck with the deck cleaner and let it dry. Applied two coats of Deckover to the deck and it looked wonderful. After the winter, only 8 months later, it has peeled off everywhere. It did not adhere to the deck whatsoever. It is an extreme waste of time and money as it does not hold up to a CT winter. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by gives a pleasent to walk on surface Applied to six year old pressure treated decking. It was sanded and prepped with Behr #63. Two coats went on easily. If it holds up to Colorado's weather I will give it five stars!! September 20, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great! Covered an old wooden deck w/ just 2 coats - made deck look brand new!! Easy clean up. NOTE- dries "very quickly" if there is any breeze. You will have to buy more than one set of brush/rollers- we attempted cleaning any it is not worth the water you waste. Will use again on another project. July 15, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lovin' this product! Product goes on like thick paint. It covers great and looks beautiful. I just did our deck a few weeks ago, so I can't vouch for long time durability. But for now, it looks great, dragging patio furniture leaves no marks, so ... For now... love it! June 24, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by UnhappyDeck We refinished our deck with this exterior finish. The paint started peeling, in large portions within 5 months of its application. To top is off we had a mild winter season and did not even withstand that. Very disappointing product. We will never use it again. April 30, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Unbelievable Product We had to resurface a deck (720 sq. ft.) but the rails and a large group of steps (close to 250 sq. ft) were weathered. We were planning on using the Behr stain, but use a competing product on the weathered part. Then we found Behr Deckover. I cannot believe how easy it is to use. The representative at Home Depot told us that he was using the same thing on his mother-in-law's deck too. He said that on the spots that are not too cracked that we could use one coat by rolling it on first and follow up right away with a brush. It works beautifully. I was not a big fan of the color, but the rest of the family wanted this color. I am glad they voted against me because the color is not a old brown but a modern brown. Even my 11 yr. old niece stated, I Love the color. It dried really fast, and it was put to the waterproof test by my Mother who spilled part of her milkshake on the first area did, 3 hrs. earlier and it sat there for about 5 minutes and I was able to clean it up with just a paper towel. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product I have read a lot of reviews online that say Behr's Deckover is hard to work with because it is thick, drys quickly, etc. If you know how to work with it, you shouldnt have to worry about this. The product is thick, as many reviews state, but as long as you periodically mix the top layer of the product (~10 minute intervals) as well as the bulk container (~30 minute intervals) you wont have this problem. I was working with the five gallon bucket, so if using the gallon size can, these intervals will need shortened. When you start to see an almost crystalline sheen start to show up on the box of the product, just give the whole top layer a good stir with your brush. Simple as that. I have not had any problems with it not sticking, peeling back off previously brushed on layers, or pretty much any other complaint with the product. It covers incredibly well, fills in 1/4'" cracks and holes as advertises, and the color is fantastic. Much better for me than a traditional sealer/stain as our deck is about 15 years old, in addition to the fact the house sat empty for 20 months as a foreclosure...needless to say no one was taking care of the decks. As with other acrylic products, clean up is a breeze; warm water and dawn. To sum up, keep the product mixed up well, and it will be smooth sailing! September 1, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Applies easy enough, good stuff The only trouble was getting enough dry days to apply. Looks good like Trex, at 10% of the cost. July 31, 2013
