Hello John,
Thanks for your question. Our DeckOver stain is not designed to stand up to the wear expected on garage floors, so we'd recommend against applying it there. You might instead consider our 1-Part Epoxy Floor Paint: http://www.homedepot.com/p/BEHR-Premium-1-Gal-PFC-20-Coronado-1-Part-Epoxy-Concrete-and-Garage-Floor-Paint-93001/203936906?keyword=behr+1-part+epoxy+coronado (notice: I gave a link Read More

For prep, we recommend removing any loose or peeled old paint, sanding the frayed edges of that coating smooth, lightly sanding any areas of the coating that are glossy, spot etching any bare concrete, cleaning the whole surface, spot priming any bare concrete with a product like our No. 880 Bonding Primer, and then applying the paint. Please follow all label instructions for best results, and well wishes!

Hello Chip,
Thanks for your question. Yes, it's okay that the deck was recently power washed, and yes, we would recommend prepping the surface with a product like our No. 63 Wood Cleaner which will open up the pores of the wood to promote adhesion. Please be sure to follow all label instructions, and best wishes.

I'm hoping its just soap & water cleanup and I don't have to remove all of the old stuff and then reseal.

Hi there,
Thanks for writing in, and sorry to hear Deckover has began to wear off. If the coating is worn in more than just one area, it's best to remove as much of the loose coating is necessary. Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Would never buy again - good luck removing it Baltimore Maryland - Memorial Day weekend 2013: Bought traditional behr deck stain then saw the commercial of people dancing on a deck with deckover so returned the stain and bought the 5 gallon bucket. I had high hopes for the product. I pre-treated/prepped my deck according to the guidelines, removed all existing stain with behr cleaner, stripper, sanded some rough spots, brushed and rinsed clean everywhere. Let dry for a good 2 weeks. The product applied fine, it self leveled for the most part. It looked great after finishing. Year 1 (2014) it still looked good. year 2 (2015) started peeling in small parts on the railing where it was hit with sun all day. year 3 (2016) is a complete disaster. Large sheets are peeling off. chipping paint is everywhere. It blows onto my neighbors property and i'm constantly apologizing and cleaning up the trash paint chips. This product is very poor. what's worse is the work that will be required to strip the remnants. i can't decide whether i will hire someone or spend the 20-30 hrs myself stripping this horrible product, sanding and re-staining with a traditional product. Most likely it wont be behr. i would not recommend this. it is a short term, pricey solution, there are much better options. July 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product This product makes a big difference in looks for the decking material. My decking is only 3 years old but was beaten by the Texas sun. It now looks great. All the little nooks and crannies are covered. I put the first coat on to fill all the cracks and second coat to finish the job. September 1, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Product I purchased Beir Deck Over to stain a twenty year old redwood deck. The wood is in okay shape and had to do a little of sanding and wood filler. The Deck Over product is very thick but goes on nicely. It does a great job of filling in the small cracks and any imperfections in the wood. Clean up was easy as well. Just a month into the applying the stain so we will see how it does over time, but I would think with it being so thick and putting on two coats I am very hopeful! June 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product. Fast shipping. Got here before, payment hit the bank. Love this stuff! June 28, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by it is a good paint, just hard to spread. it says 250sq feet it will cover, i didn't get that out of it. but what it did cover was good and it will fill little holes and cracks. i'd buy it again to do my other deck. July 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Resyored my deck This is a super procduct iy goes on easy and looks great. My Wife is very happy with the looks on our deck. August 12, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Peeling off in sheets after one Vermont winter I don't expect Home Depot to include this review in it's rating system. I see the ratings for this product are high which leads me to believe that other negative reviews were deleted. Last summer we followed the directions on the side of the bucket to the letter. Cleaned, prepped, double coated. The deck looked beautiful through the fall. (Insert long cold Vermont winter here) The snow is has finally cleared and spring is beginning. I walked out onto the deck this morning and much to my surprise and dismay, saw sheets of paint flapping in the spring breeze. It's not just peeling up a little bit or in a few places it's coming up in huge 2 foot long strips. The deck looks horrible! The only positive is that this paint peels off so easily I will be able to scrape it off in a day and repaint with a better quality product. If you are a 'picker" and enjoy picking paint off of wood this is the product for you. If you want a beautiful splinter free deck then stay FAR away from Deckover paint. April 5, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by quick shipping a very good paint goes on very smooth, would buy this product again, thanks October 22, 2014
