We have an old wrap around deck that was in bad shape, lots of splinters, looked bad, so tried this to restore it. It actually worked pretty good, no splinters you can walk around barefooted and looked pretty good. For a while anyway, about a week! Then started looking really dirty, like it has a layer of dirt on it. Can't clean it off!! Tried spraying it, mopping it, scrubbing it and it still looks horrible!! Have not had any trouble with it peeling on the actual covered areas, which is why I gave it 2 stars, but on outside areas with no cover it is peeling. Stairs are being redone now, going to try Rust-Oleum 4X restore, see how it does and how it looks! Keeping my fingers crossed!!!!

Bought deck over to finish 22 year old treated lumber 14'x20' deck Wood was pretreated and cleaned as per instructions on the container and two coats were applied per instructions. After one winter the finish started to peel and crack. There were cracks in the wood (1/16th in width) which were filled with the deck over, however it looks like the finish cracked by the cracks in the wood causing water to get under the finish and causing it to peel off in sheets. Totally disappointed in the product. Wast of time and money.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Terri Terrific product!
Although a bit more time consuming to apply - this product did exactly what it promised. It made my older deck look new. If you are using it for a new deck - the time involved would make it less productive. I would recommend this to anybody looking to take an old deck with less than perfect boards and make it look new.

We cleaned our large deck as per instructions, applied the coating as per instructions, and one year later the coating is peeling up from the deck, not in one or two spots but all over our deck. All the money spent on this coating was a waste and so was the high price of labor to install it on our previously beautiful deck. I believe Behr should have to return all our expenses to us including the cost of this coating and the cost of removing it and replacing it on our decks.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bob Behr Deckover Smooth Finish vs. Textured
I live in Bremerton, WA and we get a good share of rain here. We don't get much very cold weather, but it generally snows a few times each winter and can drop in the teens a few weeks per year. It also can get into the 90's for 30ish days per year in the summer months.
I used the smooth finish product over previously treated fir 2X6 decking. It hadn't been treated for at least 5 years prior to my using the Behr deckover product.
I used the Cape Cod Gray Smooth finish paint on my 600 sq ft deck after sanding and totally drying my wood. It peeled over 40% within the first winter. Totally dissatisfied and frustrated. I have used the Textured Cape Cod Gray on enclosed cargo trailer floors with good luck, though. So I pressure washed my peeling deck, sanded peeling spots, and let dry. I then applied the Cape Cod Gray TEXTURED product and it's been a good choice for me. It dries almost alike it has a hard plastic or even a concrete additive in it. I'm very happy so far with the TEXTURED PRODUCT. I'm waiting for next winter to come to confirm, but I'm confident it'll old up.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Crazyman Thinking of using this? Don't!
I put this product on bare pressure treated (and aged) lumber. Two years later and it is peeling and flaking off. Now I have to figure out how to remove it so I can use a better product. My deck looks terrible and this product is to blame. Terrible.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by LAW Don't use BEHR on your deck!
We have always used Behr on interior projects and love it. We trusted that the deck over would be a great product and give us a well protected deck....WRONG! It has peeled and you can't get it off. We spent hours scraping and have decided to dig the paint out of the screws and flip the boards. If you are trying to decide if you should use this product (or similar products...rustoleum, olympic, etc) DON'T do it!!
