Will this product work with an airless sprayer

Will this product work with an airless sprayer
Asked by: DM
Hi DM, Thanks for writing in with your question. You can use an airless sprayer to apply DeckOver. Make sure to use a .027"-.035" tip size and do not thin the product. Have a great day! Regards, Giovanna

Sorry I have a stupid question. Does a single 5 Gallon container cover 375 sqft with two coats or do I need to purchase 10 Gallons to achieve two coats for 375 sqft?
Asked by: Matt
Hi Matt, Thanks for writing in with your question. For 375 square feet, you will need 5 gallons of DeckOver. This will be enough for the required two coats. Good luck with your project! Regards, Giovanna

Can this product be painted on concrete that still has carpet adhesive present?

Asked by: HMoody
Hi HMoody, Thank you for your question! No, the carpet adhesive would need to be completely removed before application. Once removed, please etch the concrete to create porosity. Please follow all label instructions.

Customer Reviews

5 gal. #SC-121 Sandal Wood and Concrete Coating is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fixed my deck and saved ma a lot of money My deck hadn't been taken care for over 10 years ago. I was talking to one of the staff at Home Depot about the splinters and cracks I had on the deck and he recommended Behr Deck Over. I researched his recommendation and it had good reviews. The product applied easily and covered the deck and fixed the splinters and cracks. The deck really looks new after applying the second coat. It was a bit difficult to apply and took some time especially for the first coat as the paint is very thick. I used a roller for most of the deck and a brush for the corners, the sides and the railing. No priming is needed, which is great, but there is no instruction on how to stain the deck after applying the Deck Over paint.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does not dry true to colour. Very thick and hard to apply, had to keep reloading the roller, went on easier with a brush, dried very fast. I bought the sandal wood colour, it dried seashell pink, and shows every speck of dirt and dust. I will redo with a darker colour. Time will tell how it holds up to Florida weather.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from deck looks like new our deck is 10+ years old and was showing wear. debated on using restore vs deck over, and chose deck over as our deck was not in that bad shape. went on easily (rollers for the deck, brushes for the railings). color was slightly lighter than expected but that was ok. used a little more than we estimated but used 2 coats liberally. dried much quicker than expected as compared with deck stain. cleanup was easy. after deck over dried you could still see the grain in the wood (unlike restore which results in a totally different look and texture). to summarize, if your deck is in bad shape with lots of cracks/splinters/defects than we'd recommend restore. if on the other hand your deck is not in too bad shape but shows its age than give deck over a try. we were very happy with the results. how long will the new look last? only time will tell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy so far This product went on very thick and covered well. Looks nice, dried fast and filled the gaps and cracks. I stopped every hour to clean my roller and brushes so the job took a little longer than expected but worth the effort. Very happy so far. Hope it lasts a few years without peeling. Clean-up was easy, soap and water.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DeckOver disaster I put DeckOver down two years ago and followed the instructions on the label to a tee. It was very difficult and labor intensive to prep for and apply. Ten months later it started to peel and now it looks awful. I don't know how I am going to remove it, may have to turn the boards over or rebuild the deck. Don't every buy this product for older wooden decks. A friend of ours used it on concrete around a pool and it has lasted for 3 yerars now

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gave it a try Painted a bench top yesterday to try the paint out before using it on my deck. It smells a bit unusual - kind of like vinegar or something. The paint goes on thick and rubbery. It spreads nicely at first but quickly starts setting up so you can't touch up while in progress well However, places I thought were going to look rough self leveled and look fine now. I'll let you know how it holds up. I was happier with the color once it dried. Next time I'm going to get grey or dark brown as I'm not very imaginative and color is really hard for me. I'll be back to let you know how it holds up and if it shows dirt with a lighter color

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed I have three large decks and bought this product last year. I spent about $500 and about 100 hours of work for all three decks. I followed the instructions completely, and my decks looked fabulous (at first). After the winter, all areas that were exposed are peeling. My covered decks still look great, but anywhere the weather has touched the paint it is coming off. I'm so disappointed. I'm a mom of three kids six and under, so for me to find the time to do this was a big feat. I've heard Behr says people having these problems did not apply the product correctly, like I said - I followed the instructions on how to prep and apply to a t. If you have a covered deck this works well (so far anyway) but if you have exposed wood this product will not hold up. I read a lot of the positive reviews, and they are written right after application, not after the areas have been exposed to the elements for some time. I have used Behr products for years, and always been happy. I. give it two stars since my covered decks still look great. Hope this helps.
