Did the pool deck this past weekend. Oh my goodness did it come out nice and cover well with one coat BUT I did put on the second coat (as recommended), Also prepped it well- scraped and wire brushed the old paint and used the cleaner as recommended. Also letting it cure well before all the traffic.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by MikeF California Rustic dries to the color of Cedar
First, if you are shopping on line and color matching is important to you - STOP! The colors represented are many shades darker than when actually applied and dries. Not a big deal to me, but better to shop at the store and buy sample color if color is important. I bought the 5 gal size and paid 260 to have someone paint my 12 x 12 deck, stairs and railings. My goal was simple. Improve a 30 yo deck that had never seen stain or color in it's lifetime. I am a big fan of keeping maintenance free surfaces, just that, but this looked really sad. So I wanted to improve the looks, and get some more life out of the deck and to cover the splinters. Painter did not say it was difficult to apply or other issues. Only that it drank up paint, but to be expected on an unpainted 30 yo wood structure. Still some paint left. Deck is in shade most of day, so, the deck temp and outside temp were never above 80 degrees. Hand scraped roughest areas and painted. No pressure wash, no degrease etc,(although there was none). Took 7 hours first day, dried over night and returned next day and second coat took 3 hours has dried overnight and see for yourself. It did not cover holes or large cracks, but then I did not expect it to. Looks much better and no splinters I will wait 72 hours or longer before using it. No notice of white rising to surface or footprint issues, yet. I assume the foot prints are due to early use inside of 72 hours of curing time as it is still slightly tacky to the touch even this morning(day 3) no rain or heat over 80 as of now. Hoping the adherence issues many have cited are due to northern winter, time will tell. Seems to be great to me. Check the pix for your own decision. I would use again, just not buy it online(although home delivery is quick and convenient). I did not want the deck to "make a statement" and therefore chose a dark shade, but as stated it dried closer to the Cedar depiction than the CR depiction. It matches my brick perfectly, so no biggie, just more noticeable than I was going for!
But, for an investment price of 400 bucks, I think it was well spent, check pix to see of you agree.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bob Behr Deckover Smooth Finish vs. Textured
I live in Bremerton, WA and we get a good share of rain here. We don't get much very cold weather, but it generally snows a few times each winter and can drop in the teens a few weeks per year. It also can get into the 90's for 30ish days per year in the summer months.
I used the smooth finish product over previously treated fir 2X6 decking. It hadn't been treated for at least 5 years prior to my using the Behr deckover product.
I used the Cape Cod Gray Smooth finish paint on my 600 sq ft deck after sanding and totally drying my wood. It peeled over 40% within the first winter. Totally dissatisfied and frustrated. I have used the Textured Cape Cod Gray on enclosed cargo trailer floors with good luck, though. So I pressure washed my peeling deck, sanded peeling spots, and let dry. I then applied the Cape Cod Gray TEXTURED product and it's been a good choice for me. It dries almost alike it has a hard plastic or even a concrete additive in it. I'm very happy so far with the TEXTURED PRODUCT. I'm waiting for next winter to come to confirm, but I'm confident it'll old up.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hineshill Great Product
Just used this on my 20 year-old porch that had been stained and painted. Had to do alot of scrapping before applying but it worked just as it said it would. Just don't buy too much. I covered almost 450 sq. ft with 5 gallons and did apply two coats. Had bought a second 5 gallons as I thought it was 375 sq. per 5 gallons. Couldn't return it so sold it to a friend. Best part is it cleans up with water!!!

I put this product on bare pressure treated (and aged) lumber. Two years later and it is peeling and flaking off. Now I have to figure out how to remove it so I can use a better product. My deck looks terrible and this product is to blame. Terrible.

This paint was beautiful at first. I was very diligent and purchased the very expensive primer and applied everything as directed Then applied the paint as directed on the can including dry weather etc. It was beautiful. I had people over to the house and received so many compliments! Then, within 2 month the paint started bubbling. It was fall by this time so I ignored it. Well this spring it looks terrible as much of it is cracked and open and peeling. I am going to have to strip and redo the entire thing and we have 2 huge decks. I am so disappointed. I expected this to last a few years. Also this was a very expensive project for me. Not happy!!!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by LAW Don't use BEHR on your deck!
We have always used Behr on interior projects and love it. We trusted that the deck over would be a great product and give us a well protected deck....WRONG! It has peeled and you can't get it off. We spent hours scraping and have decided to dig the paint out of the screws and flip the boards. If you are trying to decide if you should use this product (or similar products...rustoleum, olympic, etc) DON'T do it!!
