Hello John,
Thanks for your question. Our DeckOver stain is not designed to stand up to the wear expected on garage floors, so we'd recommend against applying it there. You might instead consider our 1-Part Epoxy Floor Paint: http://www.homedepot.com/p/BEHR-Premium-1-Gal-PFC-20-Coronado-1-Part-Epoxy-Concrete-and-Garage-Floor-Paint-93001/203936906?keyword=behr+1-part+epoxy+coronado (notice: I gave a link Read More

For prep, we recommend removing any loose or peeled old paint, sanding the frayed edges of that coating smooth, lightly sanding any areas of the coating that are glossy, spot etching any bare concrete, cleaning the whole surface, spot priming any bare concrete with a product like our No. 880 Bonding Primer, and then applying the paint. Please follow all label instructions for best results, and well wishes!

Hello Chip,
Thanks for your question. Yes, it's okay that the deck was recently power washed, and yes, we would recommend prepping the surface with a product like our No. 63 Wood Cleaner which will open up the pores of the wood to promote adhesion. Please be sure to follow all label instructions, and best wishes.

I'm hoping its just soap & water cleanup and I don't have to remove all of the old stuff and then reseal.

Hi there,
Thanks for writing in, and sorry to hear Deckover has began to wear off. If the coating is worn in more than just one area, it's best to remove as much of the loose coating is necessary. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad product do not use Bought deck over to finish 22 year old treated lumber 14'x20' deck Wood was pretreated and cleaned as per instructions on the container and two coats were applied per instructions. After one winter the finish started to peel and crack. There were cracks in the wood (1/16th in width) which were filled with the deck over, however it looks like the finish cracked by the cracks in the wood causing water to get under the finish and causing it to peel off in sheets. Totally disappointed in the product. Wast of time and money. August 6, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't use BEHR on your deck! We have always used Behr on interior projects and love it. We trusted that the deck over would be a great product and give us a well protected deck....WRONG! It has peeled and you can't get it off. We spent hours scraping and have decided to dig the paint out of the screws and flip the boards. If you are trying to decide if you should use this product (or similar products...rustoleum, olympic, etc) DON'T do it!! May 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product Just used this on my 20 year-old porch that had been stained and painted. Had to do alot of scrapping before applying but it worked just as it said it would. Just don't buy too much. I covered almost 450 sq. ft with 5 gallons and did apply two coats. Had bought a second 5 gallons as I thought it was 375 sq. per 5 gallons. Couldn't return it so sold it to a friend. Best part is it cleans up with water!!! June 14, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Behr Deckover Smooth Finish vs. Textured I live in Bremerton, WA and we get a good share of rain here. We don't get much very cold weather, but it generally snows a few times each winter and can drop in the teens a few weeks per year. It also can get into the 90's for 30ish days per year in the summer months. I used the smooth finish product over previously treated fir 2X6 decking. It hadn't been treated for at least 5 years prior to my using the Behr deckover product. I used the Cape Cod Gray Smooth finish paint on my 600 sq ft deck after sanding and totally drying my wood. It peeled over 40% within the first winter. Totally dissatisfied and frustrated. I have used the Textured Cape Cod Gray on enclosed cargo trailer floors with good luck, though. So I pressure washed my peeling deck, sanded peeling spots, and let dry. I then applied the Cape Cod Gray TEXTURED product and it's been a good choice for me. It dries almost alike it has a hard plastic or even a concrete additive in it. I'm very happy so far with the TEXTURED PRODUCT. I'm waiting for next winter to come to confirm, but I'm confident it'll old up. July 6, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Thinking of using this? Don't! I put this product on bare pressure treated (and aged) lumber. Two years later and it is peeling and flaking off. Now I have to figure out how to remove it so I can use a better product. My deck looks terrible and this product is to blame. Terrible. May 27, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Great for 2 months This paint was beautiful at first. I was very diligent and purchased the very expensive primer and applied everything as directed Then applied the paint as directed on the can including dry weather etc. It was beautiful. I had people over to the house and received so many compliments! Then, within 2 month the paint started bubbling. It was fall by this time so I ignored it. Well this spring it looks terrible as much of it is cracked and open and peeling. I am going to have to strip and redo the entire thing and we have 2 huge decks. I am so disappointed. I expected this to last a few years. Also this was a very expensive project for me. Not happy!!! July 24, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by rotten product I put this product over my 10 year old cedar deck, decking was sound and in good shape just didn’t want to stain anymore. Followed cleaning and prep directions. Followed painting directions. Very time consuming and back breaking. 2 years later, finish still looks good, BUT my cedar decking is rotting to point you can break through, My green treat step stringers “I also painted “ also have rotted to the point the steps are falling off. The product does not breathe and makes the wood hold moisture. I would not recommend using this product. August 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good buy! Good product. Old deck looking good after application. August 15, 2016
