Answer:
Hello Chip,
Thanks for your question. Yes, it's okay that the deck was recently power washed, and yes, we would recommend prepping the surface with a product like our No. 63 Wood Cleaner which will open up the pores of the wood to promote adhesion. Please be sure to follow all label instructions, and best wishes.

Hello Russ,
We appreciate your interest in the Behr stain. Unfortunately, I'd have to recommend against using any of our products, including this one, on a boat deck or on plywood of any kind. A boat deck environment can be such that it exposes the coating to wear it's not designed to take, and plywood can expand and contract with changing weather which may harm the coating's integrity. Hello Russ,

A boat deck environment can be such that it exposes the coating to wear it's not designed to take, and plywood can expand and contract with changing weather which may harm the coating's integrity. You might want to check with Home Depot for another brand that'd be better for your boat.
Best wishes for your project! Read Less

5-gal. #SC-145 Desert Sand Wood and Concrete Coating is rated 2.3 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from VERY Disappointed August of 2013 we bought 15 gallons to refresh our deck. Gave it 3 coats and look acceptable. Well, we had a snowy winter and now it looks awful. It is peeling in sheets on much of the deck. I have no idea what we are going to do now. I am not sure if there is a solution. There was no salt applied to the deck so that was not an issue. I am truly devastated having spent almost $500 for this product. I cannot afford to have the deck rebuilt so I am stuck with a terrible deck on my home. I have used Behr products before and they are always very good. I guess I am truly stuck!!!! I have always been a Home Depot guy and actually worked there for a while 2 years ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The BEST on concrete. NOT the best on wood. I gave this product a 5 star rating when it is applied to 'concrete' only. I've used this on my driveway and my walkway, and it has lasted beautifully! Best product EVER for concrete. However, on wood, within months this product is bubbling and peeling off. Shame in that regard. Would not buy for wood decking. However, 'highly' recommended for any concrete application!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EXCELLENT COVERAGE, GREAT COLOR = AWESOME RESULTS!!! I wanted to bring our pool deck back to life, after seeking for several options, my wife and I liked the pattern that was on our cool deck but only after 2 1/2 years of built, the mainteneance required to have it good looking were way to much. (Living in Puerto Rico and receiving lots of rain it required constant preasure washing in order to avoid mold to acumulate in the pattern design). We decided to try the Behr Deck Over and it broght our deck back to life! It looked great after the first coat but when we put in the second coat it looked even better!!! Our deck looks good as new and we love how easy is to clean this; it is not slippery when wet (a plus for a pool deck) but it is easy on your feet at the same time! several advises from our end, I had a 800 sqft area and purchased four 5 Gal. paint we used 3 1/2, this paint is very thick and it has a strong odor when you open the paint. (not a problem for us since we were painting our deck in an open area). Start early in the morning since it is not recommended to be applied in temperatures of over 90 degrees. In our case we waited 24 hours between coats in order to allow them to dry evenly between each other. Since it is very thick it takes a while and a little effort to apply, but trust me you will love the results. This was an excellent weekend project for my wife and I. We love been in the outdoors and with a great inviting deck this is a dream come truth!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly as advertised. We repainted a 1200 sq ft outdoor deck, and we extremely pleased with the product. Problem areas in the wood were nicely covered by the paint. We covered it with 2 coats and expect it to last for several years. Would certainly recommend!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Total waste of money! After applying the product, my deck looked brand new. I was so excited. But just after 9 months, the paint is peeling. I am so disappointed. I spent over $300 on paint which was suppose to last at least 5 years! I am very disappointed and hope that Behr provides some kind of relief. So far all I have been told is email my receipt and the will give me more product....hello....I want a refund, not more junk to put on my deck!!!! Home depot won't help, said I need to work with Behr. Behr does not want to refund, I do not want anymore of their junk! My neighbor on each side used Olympic several years ago and still looks great...wish I had asked earlier, saved me money, time, labor!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks good at first Looked good when first applied. After 9 months and one winter it peeled in many areas, even the top of the rails where there is no foot traffic. This was a complete waste of money and a lot of time. If I had restained instead of deck over and it didn't last I could at least restain but now I would have to sand everything down to make it look OK. I am very disappointed with this product and have made sure to tell evryone how bad it is!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst purchase ever! We applied Deckover to our large deck and our garden boxes during late summer/early fall. By winter, we could already see some bubbling and the paint coming off. By the following summer, the deck looked pretty bad, with patches of paint missing. Two summers later, almost all the paint has bubbled off. We will have to scrape off the paint and start all over. The picture is without any scraping...So much for the guarantee!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Would never use it again! I applied this product approximately 12 months ago, to two decks. Both decks were prepared using Behr Deck Cleaner and a pressure washer. I applied the product in the shade, but coverage was a constant issue. I have used almost used 10 gals to cover what 7 - 8 gals should have covered (according to product specs and instructions), and have only put down one coat. I used the correct brush/roller, and in fact, I have spent nearly $50 in brushes and rollers. There is also significant peeling and cracking. I spent over $320 on this product, and it was a big waste of money. The one positive is, if you want to re-finish your deck again, all you have to do is PEEL the deckover off........no tools or paint remover required.
