Hello John,
Thanks for your question. Our DeckOver stain is not designed to stand up to the wear expected on garage floors, so we'd recommend against applying it there. You might instead consider our 1-Part Epoxy Floor Paint: http://www.homedepot.com/p/BEHR-Premium-1-Gal-PFC-20-Coronado-1-Part-Epoxy-Concrete-and-Garage-Floor-Paint-93001/203936906?keyword=behr+1-part+epoxy+coronado (notice: I gave a link Read More

For prep, we recommend removing any loose or peeled old paint, sanding the frayed edges of that coating smooth, lightly sanding any areas of the coating that are glossy, spot etching any bare concrete, cleaning the whole surface, spot priming any bare concrete with a product like our No. 880 Bonding Primer, and then applying the paint. Please follow all label instructions for best results, and well wishes!

Hello Chip,
Thanks for your question. Yes, it's okay that the deck was recently power washed, and yes, we would recommend prepping the surface with a product like our No. 63 Wood Cleaner which will open up the pores of the wood to promote adhesion. Please be sure to follow all label instructions, and best wishes.

I'm hoping its just soap & water cleanup and I don't have to remove all of the old stuff and then reseal.

Hi there,
Thanks for writing in, and sorry to hear Deckover has began to wear off. If the coating is worn in more than just one area, it's best to remove as much of the loose coating is necessary. Customer Reviews

Rated 1.3 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by What a disappointing mess!! We bought our house last April (2015) and a brand new deck was installed prior to moving in. We chose this product because it was highly recommended by Home Depot and felt we would not have to worry about redoing for a couple of years. After a few months it began peeling off and bubbling everywhere! Our deck looks old and dilapidated like we've never taken care of it. I couldn't be more disappointed. We've been working the last few weeks trying to remove the rest with stain and paint remover only to damage the wood even further. We've spend 5 hours pressure washing, three gallons of stripper and countless time continuing to scrap and peel. I"m not even going to mention the damage to our lawn. Now we are somewhat close to sanding the splintered and gouged boards caused by all of this. I couldn't be more disgusted with this product. We also went to Home Depot to express our concern and was told, "Sorry to hear that, you might consider contacting the manufacturer." I do not recommend this product and strongly advise against it if you are considering. It was expensive, time consuming and turned into the worst decision. So so sad. I could cry every time I step outside. May 15, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible Followed all directions and after 2 months the whole deck was peeling now after a winter our deck looks awful it has peeled up everywhere. We are going to try the rustoleum product next just for this year and see how it goes anything is better than this. Complete waste of time and money. I wish I could attach a picture for anyone considering this product. May 17, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Can Not Reccomend Product would not work in sprayer(stopped up the nozzle), would not flow thu power roller. Had to use brush and roller. Doubled the time to do the deck. The product has some kind of fine sand in it that makes it useless in power machines. October 29, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not what I expected for the price, cheaper better options available! The product claims to cover gaps up 1/4 inch but it is barely filling in splits in the grain that are less than 1/8th. The coverage is grossly over stated on the pail. I had 220 sq ft to do and it barely did one good coat on that. The texture and non slip are true to the advertisement but the durability is already in question as there are flakes appearing in heavy traffic areas after only a week. Overall very disappointed in the product and would not buy again nor recommend. September 17, 2013
