We bought our house last April (2015) and a brand new deck was installed prior to moving in. We chose this product because it was highly recommended by Home Depot and felt we would not have to worry about redoing for a couple of years. After a few months it began peeling off and bubbling everywhere! Our deck looks old and dilapidated like we've never taken care of it. I couldn't be more disappointed. We've been working the last few weeks trying to remove the rest with stain and paint remover only to damage the wood even further. We've spend 5 hours pressure washing, three gallons of stripper and countless time continuing to scrap and peel. I"m not even going to mention the damage to our lawn. Now we are somewhat close to sanding the splintered and gouged boards caused by all of this. I couldn't be more disgusted with this product. We also went to Home Depot to express our concern and was told, "Sorry to hear that, you might consider contacting the manufacturer." I do not recommend this product and strongly advise against it if you are considering. It was expensive, time consuming and turned into the worst decision. So so sad. I could cry every time I step outside.

Followed all directions and after 2 months the whole deck was peeling now after a winter our deck looks awful it has peeled up everywhere. We are going to try the rustoleum product next just for this year and see how it goes anything is better than this. Complete waste of time and money. I wish I could attach a picture for anyone considering this product.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by BLB No good
This product peeled before the end of one season in so many spots we had to remove it all from over 900 sq ft of decking. No refund from Behr could possibly equal the loss of time and money this product cost me. Won't ever buy another Behr product.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bob Behr Deckover Smooth Finish vs. Textured
I live in Bremerton, WA and we get a good share of rain here. We don't get much very cold weather, but it generally snows a few times each winter and can drop in the teens a few weeks per year. It also can get into the 90's for 30ish days per year in the summer months.
I used the smooth finish product over previously treated fir 2X6 decking. It hadn't been treated for at least 5 years prior to my using the Behr deckover product.
I used the Cape Cod Gray Smooth finish paint on my 600 sq ft deck after sanding and totally drying my wood. It peeled over 40% within the first winter. Totally dissatisfied and frustrated. I have used the Textured Cape Cod Gray on enclosed cargo trailer floors with good luck, though. So I pressure washed my peeling deck, sanded peeling spots, and let dry. I then applied the Cape Cod Gray TEXTURED product and it's been a good choice for me. It dries almost alike it has a hard plastic or even a concrete additive in it. I'm very happy so far with the TEXTURED PRODUCT. I'm waiting for next winter to come to confirm, but I'm confident it'll old up.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Jean Great for 2 months
This paint was beautiful at first. I was very diligent and purchased the very expensive primer and applied everything as directed Then applied the paint as directed on the can including dry weather etc. It was beautiful. I had people over to the house and received so many compliments! Then, within 2 month the paint started bubbling. It was fall by this time so I ignored it. Well this spring it looks terrible as much of it is cracked and open and peeling. I am going to have to strip and redo the entire thing and we have 2 huge decks. I am so disappointed. I expected this to last a few years. Also this was a very expensive project for me. Not happy!!!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by TT Poor Product - Difficult to apply - Peels Quickly
Product is extremely difficult to apply. Is too thick to apply with roller. If you are successful applying with a roller the product leaves a textured surface. We were finally able to apply with a 4" brush. Use of a brush drastically extends the time required.
We power washed the deck and just prior to application re-sprayed deck with garden hose and spray attachment. We allowed several days to dry and started application. Several sections of deck started to peel within a month. At the point of this review the product has been on for about 9 months. It is peeling at many locations on deck.
I would not recommend the use of this product. As Review Title states it is very difficult to apply and then does not stick to decking. I am extremely dissatisfied.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ConservativeConsumer Good product, but not too easy to work with.
The coating creates almost compound board looks to a deck, which is nice. However, the product shall be applied when many conditions are met - air humidity, quality of deck preparation is ideal, dryness of deck boards, deck is in the shade and so on. The product is so thick that it is hard to get in between boards, in cracks and other spots like that. Two layers shall be done which extends project time Significantly - especially if weather conditions are not ideal for an extended period of time.
