Customer Questions & Answers

For two coats on 350 sq ft do I need 5 or 10 gallons of paint ?????

Asked by: Quack
Hello Quack, Good question! This product covers 75 square feet, and that includes both required coats. So, for 350 square feet, you'd need about 4.7 gallons (round up to 5). Best wishes for your project!

I have a deck that is approx 600 sq ft. How much behr deck over would i need for the two coats required?

Asked by: cpt
Hi cpt, Thank you for your question! The five gallon pail has a coverage area of 350 square feet. Please use this when determining the amount that you will need to purchase. Also, please note that the condition of the surface, smooth or rough, can impact coverage areas.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from horrible! I used Behr deck wash. I followed all the directions. I applied 3 coats. it was very hard to work with, paint is thick. it looked great when I was done. 6 months later and its all peeling off. this should not have happened! horrible! I will never use again. all my hard work was for nothing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of Time and Money I am so disappointed in Behr DeckOver. I used this product on a concrete landing near my door. I spent several days properly preparing the concrete, stripping the previous layers of paint, and allowing it to dry completely before applying DeckOver. I followed the application instructions exactly. Initially, I was disappointed with the product's inability to fill in the small cracks and imperfections in the concrete's surface, but I decided that it wasn't the end of the world. I applied one coat, waited the appropriate amount of time, then applied a second coat. I loved the color and that made me less bothered about the fact that there were still visible divots in the concrete. Once the product dried, though, the color was terribly inconsistent and patchy. I thought maybe I wasn't consistent enough with my rolling technique, so I decided to apply a third coat, being very mindful to covering everything with the same amount of DeckOver. But still when it dried the color was uneven and you could see roller strokes in some areas. I was so upset because I'd put several days into this project only to end up with a less than ideal outcome. I decided to just accept the situation, and I set up a barricade to keep people from walking on the area. There was no traffic at all on the landing for more than 72 hours. After that time had passed, and the DeckOver should have been completely cured per the information on the can, I put a couple decorative pots and a welcome mat on the landing to spruce it up and take attention away from the coloring and texture issues. This was last Thursday. Then yesterday (Wednesday), I decided to relocate the pots. I picked them up only to find that the areas beneath them were a completely different color than the rest of the landing! Evidently the paint had drastically faded! I lifted up the welcome mat and sure enough that area also looked darker than everywhere else. This is unacceptable after less than a week of being completed!! I will NEVER recommend this product to anyone, because it is just an enormous waste of time and money. I'm going to live with it for this summer, but it looks like I'll have to strip it off and start anew with something else next year.
