Customer Questions & Answers

Coating is too thick to roll on. How do I thin? In what proportion?

Bought 4 gallons and had to brush using force to deposit coating. Coating was mixed using electric paddle but still maintained extremely thick texture. Took an almost 2 hours to hand paint 1 gallon. Had expected to roll material on patio but will not adhere to roller.
Asked by: Rich
Make sure you use the correct roller type/ material for the product (instructions on the paint can) or you will have issues. It takes a bit to cover the roller, you might try using a deep roller pan at first. The paint is thick on purpose as it is to be applied in a thick coat, you would not want to thin it up or spread it thin with a brush. It will adhere and harden completely within 72 hours to clean wood or cement nicely as it is an acrylic base.

5 gal. #SC-148 Adobe Brown Wood and Concrete Coating is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst product Black mold loves this product. Product does not adhere to surface and is peeling up. Even with proper prep this product will not do the job on a deck. Mold is so engraved into paint it will not come off even with pressure washer. Do not purchase this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not last even a year !!! Painted deck last August. This winter was not even too snowy, but all deck paint now, 9 month later, is pealing of in big patches! Not only I would like my money back, but someone to come and shave of the whole deck so we can repaint it with some good quality product! Money lost and tome needs to be invested now double! Very upsetting! No more Bear paint for us - ANY KIND!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have great confidence in this product! I have every reason to believe that this product will do the trick. The Behr product that I have used in the past on my deck (before this recent availability of Deckover), that is - Behr Deck Semi-transparent has done a very good job. In fact, the part of my deck that is sheltered from the weather looks as though it was recently done. But, that part exposed to the myraid weather elements up here at this elevation could use some attention. That's where the Deckover comes in. I must be perfectly honest by revealing that I have yet to apply this product to my deck and back porch. I drove nearly 600 miles to get up here to my cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains where, because of the climate at this altitude, the deck is subjected to great adversity. I have it cleaned and am ready to get to work but the weather has not yet permitted it - with rain almost every afternoon. So, it looks as though I'm going to have to wait until October when we characteristically have several dry days in a row. However - I do want to issue great praise for the terrific service I have received from Home Depot in acquiring the product. I drive a very small car and transported a lot of "stuff" up here from my Florida home. The last thing I wanted was to try to crowd a 5 gallon can of Deckover into the car. So, I ordered it on line and even though the nearest Home Depot is nearly 50 miles away in Asheville, the product was delivered to my cabin free. This is no small benefit considering the nature of our mountain roads here. I am grateful. The heavy can arrived in a thick cardboard protective box with handles to aid in carting it from point A to point B. Great work Home Depot. It arrived only 4 days after I placed the order! Thanks!
