After my recent review of this product, Joshua from Behr Web Customer Care reached out to me to address my issues. After answering a few short questions we were able to come to agreement. I might not recommend this product, but I do appreciate the time and effort Behr's representative took to try to make things right. I am grateful there are still companies out there that care about their customers and put forth the effort to make them happy.

Do not waste your time or money. Cleaned and prepared deck exactly as directed. Less then one month later, deck floor began to peel. So disgusted we decided not to do anything until we returned back up North this summer. We returned to a deck that over 1/2 the paint peeled off. I called Behr and the sent me another 5 gallons of paint, 2 gallons of deck cleaner and told me to purchase 7 gallons of paint remover and they would reimburse me. Really don't want to go thru months of work again. Think I will stain it.

We were advised by the Home Depot Rep in paint section that Deck Over is the best on the market for your deck. Will last for a very long time and is very durable. After two months of application paint was bubbling and chipping away from wood. Cracks were not concealed. To be such and expensive product it was very disappointing. not even a year in we already have to repaint the deck. Product does not hold its value. Very Very unsatisfied!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Chip BEHR Permium DeckOver worked as advertised on my Deck
I used BEHR CEDAR NATURALTONE WOOD and CONCRETE PAINT on my weather exposed deck. I had to replace about half of the 14 year old boards so I needed a product that would help improve the remaining life of the existing boards and match up with the newly installed ones. BEHR PREMIUM DECKOVER did this nicely. Proper preparation of the wood before application was as just as important with BEHR as any other product on the market to obtain the overall desired success upon completion. My only complaint with the BEHR PREMIUM DECKOVER was the color I chose(did not check color samples beforehand). More of a butterscotch pudding color than a natural cedar tone(house color). Clean up was easy with water. I would definitely use BEHR PERMIUM DECKOVER again.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bigbob DIDN'T LAST 3 MONTHS!!!
I applied 2 coats to my deck in June. By September there were places that the product had worn away to the bare wood! This product is not worth the time and money to put down! There were even spots where it peeled away! Three days of work and money wasted!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Leah Not easy, but worth the work!
My deck is painted and it looks great. It was not as easy as the commercials imply. Read the directions carefully. It is a lot of work just to get the deck clean enough for painting. Big cracks have to be filled; we used a Wood Epoxy Putty. Small cracks must be filled in with DeckOver and allowed to dry or the roller will just pull the paint out of the crack . Then you have to have 72 hours cure time without any rain. When the weather report would not cooperate we spent half a day putting up a tarp tent over the deck... then of course the predicted rain still has not come.. The finished deck has the texture of very fine sandpaper, I expected something smoother, but the rough surface is better because it is more slip proof. I do not recommend using Deckover on the railings...too rough for railings.
The Behr website is also very helpful. They have both email and phone support. All the directions on the can, and more, are at their web site.
I would recommend Deckover, with warnings about how hard it is to prep.. But we think it was worth the work!!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bob Behr Deckover Smooth Finish vs. Textured
I live in Bremerton, WA and we get a good share of rain here. We don't get much very cold weather, but it generally snows a few times each winter and can drop in the teens a few weeks per year. It also can get into the 90's for 30ish days per year in the summer months.
I used the smooth finish product over previously treated fir 2X6 decking. It hadn't been treated for at least 5 years prior to my using the Behr deckover product.
I used the Cape Cod Gray Smooth finish paint on my 600 sq ft deck after sanding and totally drying my wood. It peeled over 40% within the first winter. Totally dissatisfied and frustrated. I have used the Textured Cape Cod Gray on enclosed cargo trailer floors with good luck, though. So I pressure washed my peeling deck, sanded peeling spots, and let dry. I then applied the Cape Cod Gray TEXTURED product and it's been a good choice for me. It dries almost alike it has a hard plastic or even a concrete additive in it. I'm very happy so far with the TEXTURED PRODUCT. I'm waiting for next winter to come to confirm, but I'm confident it'll old up.

only thing positive is that it covers more than the bucket says it will... negative - now I have an extra bucket of paint.
the color dries lighter than the sample chips, so if you do use this, go a shade darker than you really want.
we rolled over decking that had some cracks in it... not bad enough to replace, but looking a little shabby. i thought this would be the answer as it showed pictures of similar situations being treated and looking like new.
not so! now it have a painted deck with cracks... looks like a shabby deck with a coat of paint.
at $158 bucks a bucket.. definitely NOT worth the money, the time or the effort.
