Rated 5.0 out of 5.0Â by Chip BEHR Permium DeckOver worked as advertised on my Deck
I used BEHR CEDAR NATURALTONE WOOD and CONCRETE PAINT on my weather exposed deck. I had to replace about half of the 14 year old boards so I needed a product that would help improve the remaining life of the existing boards and match up with the newly installed ones. BEHR PREMIUM DECKOVER did this nicely. Proper preparation of the wood before application was as just as important with BEHR as any other product on the market to obtain the overall desired success upon completion. My only complaint with the BEHR PREMIUM DECKOVER was the color I chose(did not check color samples beforehand). More of a butterscotch pudding color than a natural cedar tone(house color). Clean up was easy with water. I would definitely use BEHR PERMIUM DECKOVER again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0Â by Leah Not easy, but worth the work!
My deck is painted and it looks great. It was not as easy as the commercials imply. Read the directions carefully. It is a lot of work just to get the deck clean enough for painting. Big cracks have to be filled; we used a Wood Epoxy Putty. Small cracks must be filled in with DeckOver and allowed to dry or the roller will just pull the paint out of the crack . Then you have to have 72 hours cure time without any rain. When the weather report would not cooperate we spent half a day putting up a tarp tent over the deck... then of course the predicted rain still has not come.. The finished deck has the texture of very fine sandpaper, I expected something smoother, but the rough surface is better because it is more slip proof. I do not recommend using Deckover on the railings...too rough for railings.
The Behr website is also very helpful. They have both email and phone support. All the directions on the can, and more, are at their web site.
I would recommend Deckover, with warnings about how hard it is to prep.. But we think it was worth the work!!

Applied to my deck Aug 2013 and it looked great. It is now May 2014 and the product it peeling. I can pull up the paint in large sheets. I live in the U.P of Michigan and with the brutal winters we have none of these products hold up. Don't waste your money on this. I know other people in the area that used other brands such as Rock Solid and Rustoleum Restore and they are having the same problem.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0Â by JohnTerry Don't buy too much!!!!!!
We bought 3 of these 5 gallon buckets because we wanted to make sure we had enough. They said it would cover 375 sq ft. Well we had so much left over that it turns out we didn't need 3 we needed 2. That's a lot of money to waste so I am not happy about their specs. You cannot return unused colored paint. Buyer beware. It looks nice and feels nice but is very hard to get between the gaps of the boards. Use a sponge brush. Sure hope it doesn't peel like the other reviews say. We'll see next year. Maybe that's why they have you buy more than what you need.
