We were so impressed with the demo at Home Depot that in 2013 my sister and I both purchased Deck Over and stained our decks. We both spent almost an entire summer on this project. After thoroughly cleaning our decks and letting them dry. We painted over the cracks and between each board with a paint brush as was suggested by the rep and allowed sufficient time for both coats to dry. Both decks look gorgeous for the remainder of that first summer. By spring 2014 the stain on both decks had cracked and started to peel. We could actually peel off the stain with our fingers. We touched up these areas only to have the same thing happen in 2015 and now in 2016. In addition, we were told the deck would be perfect for walking in on bare feet... It is not! This is very discouraging especially when my neighbors used a plain old deck stain and have much better looking decks. We were told the stain would last for many years and I have touched up my deck every year - what a waste of time and money. Several people asked why the deck looks like it does when it was recently stained and what I've used. I tell them but I also warn them it's a lot of money for very poor results. This product should last more than one year. Up to this point I thought Behr products were far better than other brands. After this experience I am not sure I will purchase Behr again.

We applied this product and followed the directions exactly. After two years it needs to be completely redone. There are cracks in almost all of the deck boards (even in areas that are not walked on like railings) and big areas where the finish has come completely off leaving exposed wood. The staff at the local Home Depot store don't even recommend this when you ask them about it. I spent a lot of time and money on this, and now I'll be switching products.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by ScottE Serious peeling after 2 years
We bough this in May of 2014. We followed the directions, using the recommended cleaner, then allowed the deck to dry for a few days in the sun. We applied when the deck was in the shade. At the start of the second year we had a few chips, which I touched up with some leftover product. Now, at the third year, we have major peeling. I managed to scrape quite a bit off, then found my leaf blower was pretty good at getting even more loose paint off. You can see in the picture of what was left - maybe 50%? The paint that is left looks fine, but obviously the big picture looks terrible.
We had done the verticals and railing in a matching stain. They still look good, and I will try to repaint the whole deck with stain this year.
Note that I don't shovel the whole deck in the winter, and thus scrape the deck with my shovel, and we don't often use the deck since we have a more convenient sitting area near our pool, so there's not a lot of foot traffic either.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by old Behr PREMIUM WOOD COATING "DeckOver" deep base #5000-n solid color "flat top"
We painted our deck with Behr Premium wood coating "DeckOver" deep base #5000-n solid color "Flat Top". It looked beautiful until muddy footprints. A week after painting it was walked on with muddy shoes. No amount of washing or scrubbing with vinegar water, vinegar dawn mixer, Scott's "outdoor cleaner' or just water removed the muddy prints. My grandpups continue to add muddy paw print.
My beautiful deck is now a sea of muddy foot and paw prints.
Home Depot refunded the price of the paint with a shake of the head as they had not run into this problem of muddy foot prints.

Well I should have listened to the reviews on this one. One winter and this material is peeling up in sheets from my deck. I told myself well maybe they are not prepping it properly.
1) I did every step recommended for the preparation of this deck.
2) Followed the instructions to the letter.
3) went on very nice made me think Yes this is really going to work.
4) started peeling off in sheets after one winter.
I would not recommend this product to anyone unless you wish to rework your entire deck and for the money I now have more problem than I did before.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by JR Does not last as advertised - chipping off already
The paint is chipping off my deck after less than 12 months. I bought DeckOver specifically because it is advertised to last " 5-10 years on horizontal surfaces and 15-25 years on vertical surfaces". I'm extremely disappointed. Two other friends bought at the same time I did and we are all experiencing chipping. Truly misleading advertising / review rating / product.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Jsom Awful, if I could give no stars I would
This product is just awful, less than a year after application and my deck is peeling and the flakes of paint are literally covering my lawn and being tracked into the house. We followed all the manufacturer instuctions on preparing the wood for this product but all that money and time we spent using this product was a waste. The worst part is now I have to try to fix it. Please, please save yourself and do not try this product!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by AmberH We too were fooled by a seemingly great product!
Sadly, we too fell for the trap of the seemingly awesome DeckOver. After wasting money on the wood cleaner jugs, 2- 5 gallon buckets of grey, and 2- 1 gallon cans of black, we wasted our time prepping and painting our deck at the end of summer/fall 2015 only to have it greet us with bubbling and peeling before summer 2016. We spent significant amounts of time cleaning and prepping our deck and even more time painting it as it is huge. I decided to wait to do the balusters (in black while the rest of the deck is grey) until this season as I didn’t want the weather to have an adverse effect on the curing process and, frankly, I was sick of painting. Now, I don’t think I am going to bother as most of the surface of the deck has bubbling occurring all over so I don’t see the point of wasting more time. Areas where the paint is bubbling up are easily chipped off when lightly brushed or walked on. The ONLY consolation I have is the fact that we ran out of time and money for further home improvement projects last year as I had originally intended to paint all of the wood trim of our house, our concrete front porch, and our wood shed with this junk. As angry as I am about how much money and time we already wasted, it would have been worse because I estimated us needing at least 4 more 5 gallon buckets to complete all the projects I had in mind. I think I am done with Behr paints as we noticed the same bubbling and peeling with their paint and primer in one inside our house, albeit not in the large scale disaster of the DeckOver. We bought our house in 2011 and have dumped tens of thousands into improving it and fixing the previous owners’ mistakes and neglect. We still have a ways to go and I don’t appreciate having to back track to redo projects again due to poor products. Trex decking, we will be saving for you!
