Answer:
I've done one both ways- I recommend the sealer for the add protection and the look.
However, it is not needed if you are trying to lower the overall cost of the project.

Dear Bubba,
The Decorative Flakes are to be applied directly on the wet painted surface, no sealer is necessary.
Thank you.

Answer:
Howdy "Bubba",
When you use any color flakes you would need 2-part epoxy UV Top Coat to seal them. This is standard with all flake-type decorative finishes.
Happy sealing,
Coach Dave

How do I add flakes to the front of the garage floor, when the back has had more (the perfect amount) applied?

I used more flakes at back of garage (looks very good), but ran out of flakes (very sparse, bad), at front of garage. I used Behr's Garage Floor Kit (Gray 2 part epoxy) spreading flakes every 3 foot sections ... it was going very well until I realized I would run out of flakes.
In order to add flakes to areas that need it, do I repaint with color or clear sealer?
Do I use a 2 part epoxy?
Please advise next steps.
Thank You.

Answer:
Hi sport454, thank you for your question. You can repaint with more 2-Part Epoxy if you have it. Another option is to use 985 Wet Look Sealer, then sprinkle on more flakes. Be sure to follow all back label instructions and best of luck on your project.

Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question. When using BEHR PREMIUM® Decorative Flakes, make sure to cast the flakes directly onto wet painted surfaces. We recommend throwing the color flakes up into the air and letting them distribute evenly on the wet painted surface, rather than throwing them directly on concrete. Be sure to read all back-label instructions and best of luck on your project.

Answer:
Hi Spacer,
Thanks for writing in! Yes, the Decorative Flakes can be used with the 1 Part Epoxy. However, they shouldn't be mixed in the paint. Instead, sprinkle them directly on the wet painted surface. Hope this helps, and good luck on your project! Best, Jeanette P.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks Great I painted my basement bathroom tile and wanted to add something special. This was it! I used these flakes with the Behr epoxy paint and wet look sealer. Had no issues and couldn't be happier. August 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Metallic flakes DB 3/21/13 If you use a shaker bottle, you should get the desire look of metal flakes reflecting light off the floor. We, delighted with the overall look and the amount of metal reflection we see on our garage floor. March 24, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not much metallic flake Not worth the extra money. There appears to be a decent amount of silver flake in the package but there is very little showing once on the floor. I do not see any difference between the regular and metallic once used and my walls have 3' of corrugated metal so I thought it would tie in but no luck. I would only recommend this product if you wanted the black, gray and white that are also in the package (which I did). June 29, 2012
