Hello Peter,
Thanks for your question. Yes, this product can be applied to metal on the inside of a door, but it requires cleaning, etching, and then priming with a product like our No. 75 All-In-One Primer & Sealer. Please be sure to follow all label instructions for best results.

Easily scratched-off paint can be caused by many factors - from insufficient time to cure, to painting over a glossy surface, or to painting latex over oil-based (or vice versa). In a kitchen, paint can sometimes have trouble adhering to surfaces that have picked up airborne oils from cooking. I've seen a few cases where heavy tobacco use in the home over an extended period of time can leave a nasty, hard-to-cover film on walls and ceilings. I suppose a badly-drawing fireplace could also cause issues. Hopefully in your case it's just a matter of the new paint not yet being fully cured. Otherwise, you could have a pretty major repair project on your hands.
To prevent such problems in the future, make sure glossy surfaces are roughed up by lightly sanding them, that any surfaces that aren't clean are washed down, and that you use an appropriate primer if you're painting oil over latex or vice versa. If necessary, paint a small area and test it for proper adhesion before you do the whole project. Remember that surface prep is exceedingly important and can constitute half (or more) of the total effort when painting. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by One Coat Paint My husband and I repainted our kitchen. We have a beautiful kitchen now with only one coat of paint needed. We have textured walls so we expected to have to paint the wall with two coats to cover all the cracks. We were happy to discover that only one coat was needed that saved us money and time. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I've been using this paint for years Never had a problem with this paint, it goes on easy and easy to clean up. I use it in my kitchen, bathrooms, hallways, pretty much everywhere I paint I prefer the eggshell except baseboards and doors. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] June 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Premium Plus gets the job done We are in the process of painting our entire interior and chose Behr because of the helpful virtual kiosk at our Home depot store. We didn't know what type to choose (Premium Plus, Plus Ultra, or Marquee), so we went with value brand, Premium Plus. 2 rooms down, both with a primary color and an accent wall (4 total different paint colors) and 3 out of 4 colors needed 2 coats (we expected this). One color covered fine in a single coat. All our walls were different shades of tan prior to painting. For this being their value brand, it exceeds expectations. I'll be buying Behr Premium Plus for the rest of our home. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] February 24, 2016
