Customer Questions & Answers

Can Behr Marquee exterior be used on aluminium siding without a sealing primer?

Asked by: Danny
Hello Danny, Thanks for your question! Yes, it can be used on aluminum siding. For aluminum, it wouldn't need a separate primer but please be sure to clean the surface of any contaminants before applying the paint. Well wishes for your painting!

Exterior House Painting

My home is Hardy Board Siding with concrete block base. I have panted the blocks with DRYLOK Water proofer a few years ago, so my question is can I use this to cover both the siding & blocks?
Asked by: Lem
Hello Lem, Thanks for your interest in Behr paint. Our latex wall paints like Marquee aren't designed to be applied over waterproofers as the sealing properties of those can tend to keep our coatings from adhering. Therefore, it would be best to remove the waterproofer before applying our paint to the concrete and fiber cement which are both okayed for our paint. Well wishes for your project!

Can this paint be put on over water based semi transparent stain on handrsil & spindles on outdoor deck

Asked by: Holly
Hello Holly, Thanks for your question. Yes, since it the handrails and spindles would be vertical areas that don't get walked on, the Marquee Exterior Semi-Gloss would be fine. You might also consider our other paints like like Premium Plus Exterior and Ultra Exterior. Well wishes for your project!

I have been restoring homes for many years and have used several different paint company products including: Benjamin Moore, Pratt and Lambert, Sherwin Williams, Valspar, and now Behr. Thought I would go with the top of the line and that was a big mistake. This was the runniest paint I have ever used; leaving drips everywhere that I had to go back and clean up. Will NEVER use Behr again! So after only using an 8th of the can, made a 60 minute roundtrip to my old Benjamin Moore dealer and now have paint I can actually use.

There is no other paint that can stand up to Behr Marquee - I've tried most of them, including Sherwin Williams (One of my favorites) and they fall short. Just plain and simple - the outright best paint out there.

I was looking for a durable outdoor brilliant white and the clerk recommended the Marquee with no tinting, power-stirred. Reading the label thoroughly after the first poor coverage coat, I found it specifically stated 'do not to use without tinting' so maybe that is the reason for poor coverage. I used new pro grade brushes trying both bristle and man made. After three coats I switched to an old leftover, power-stirred, offwhite exterior Kwal paint and that worked like a charm - after more than 3 years in storage. 2 coat coverage, no drips great finish. I switched to a Purdy Pro brand brush.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEHR is always the best We are totally redoing our house, inside and out and only using BEHR paint. This specific paint we bought for our kitchen in an area where food and water sometimes gets splashed so we decided to upgrade to the stain resistant paint. We picked the color Mushroom Bisque to complement another color we painted in the room. We used this paint to cover some really old formica that we decided to paint rather than replace. The paint covered well, it was true to color and it is shiny and perfect. It is so perfect that as we made our way through the house we decided to finish this gallon in our living room and purchased a second gallon to finish the job. I have been a painter and artist for my whole life 40 years. I painted Gables for under the eve of my roof with marquee paint. Painted inside all the scroll work first then the front. I put the first coat on 24 hours ago and finsh is very sticky and gummy. I do understand, The darker the colors take the longest drying time. But One thin coat 24 hours!!!!!!. I need to sand this gummy paint off and redo the whole thing. It looks like they need to put more hardeners in their MarQuee paint And yes very thin you will need 4 coats believe me. This is going back. And I am going to Sherwin Williams. PS to be fair their other line of interior Behr paint and primer is really good.
