Rated 1 out of 5 Avoid this product Avoid this product. Does not adhere to surfaces. Prepared surface as recommended, primed and painted a ceiling. Paint stuck to primer but primer did not stick to ceiling. Putty knife run between primer and surface peeled entire layer off. Spent hours and hours patching ruined ceiling. Purchased a primer from a paint store (at 3x the cost) and had success. March 23, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent high hiding, self priming exterior paint Pros: Self Priming, high hiding, fast drying, claims mildew resistance, attractive price, minimal chalking. The previous version of this product had a pretty good paint film that was very good at maintaining the integrity of the physical surface after years of exposure to the elements. We will see if this new nano version is just as robust in a few years. Cons: Certain pigments (like the yellows) tend to fade out after a few years of exposure to sunlight leaving the other pigments to stand you will notice a change in the overall colour of your painted surface after 4-5 years. ex. a browish/yellow paint when new will end up looking more red/brown after 4-5 years... I have been using this brand of exterior paint for 10 years now and the fading of the yellow pigments is an area they could improve on in the future. An excellent choice otherwise. April 13, 2009
Rated 5 out of 5 by It's PRIMER, not rocket science I see all the people writing negatve reviews about a Behr product, let alone a simple PRIMER..........i'ts just ridiculous Most people that use these products either don't know what they're doing, or just plain doing it wrong. This is a simple primer that is EXCELLENt for the price of $12 a can. And it's a Behr product so it has a money back guarantee. Really any of the big brands such as Ber, Glidden, Killz, etc.....are going to be more than good enough for any paint project. Let me just hit on some of the reviews I've read while skimming throuh this section. 1. to the guy that wrote that this primer acts as a glue and pulled his spackle up from out of the drywall cieling after a repair. My man, THIS IS A PRIMER THAT SEALS ALL INTERIOR SURFACES. Yes, it is going to stick. That's what it's made to do. It's supposed to stick to the wall so that the paint cant stick to it while also sealing up the wall or ceiling so that it won't absord moisture and avoid stains. My goodnes. I guarantee that you either didn't properly rid the surface of dust and dirt and instead spackled over it. Or you just plain decided to paint over spackle that had yet to set. Give your spackle or joint compound a day to fully set. Sand, wipe clean, then primer. 2. Prep your walla people. This is the first and most important step in painting. Wipe walls clean of grease and dust/dirt. NOTHING will bond with a greasy or dusty surface. 3. If you are painting over a very dark wall to a lighter color, PRIMER 2 COATS!!! I see people complaining about the paint showing through or having to apply 3 or more coats of the new lighter paint and then faulting the primer. This is user error. Primer correctly. 4. Let your primer set. Yes it dries quickly. But aloow it to set and harden. Take your time and do things the right way. Don't kill yourself doing double the work. 5. As long as you aren't buying $3 primer, you should be fine. Stick with the good brands and don't be fooled into paying more for the extra super, awesome, revolutionary, never before seen, premium, etc.......primer. It is in fact just primer. Whatever sticks to your walls, seals, and hides prevous paint is going to work very well. If you need to, have the paint guys tint the primer to match the color you are going to paint in. Yes they do that and yes its free. November 12, 2014
