Customer Questions & Answers

what is the difference between ceiling paint and regular paint?

I see that ceiling paint is less expensive but does that mean its also poorer quality. Can I use regular wall paint on my ceiling?
Asked by: hatethatpopcorn
Ceiling paint is basically a flat finish white paint with little washability(since ceilings usually don't get fingerprints and dirt smudges it doesn't have to be too durable).

I have painted the ceiling twice trying to get rid of the blotches and streaks that have resulted from using this paint. How do I fix it?

Asked by: Sandy
It sounds like you will have to primer it first if the stains and blotches are that stubborn, or maybe paint it with kills oil base first.

Can you use this on kitchen walls?

Asked by: Pris
The one I am rating is ceiling paint. I honestly would think so but if you need something that you can wash, you might want to get one for walls. They have quite a few that they suggest that was made especially for that.

1 gal. Flat Interior Ceiling Paint is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 498.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Job isn't done, Until the Ceiling is painted!!! Painted several rooms, and skipped painting the white ceilings since they were cathedral style and high. Well after some prodding from the Mrs, I purchased several gallons of Behr Interior Ceiling Flat White paint and finished off our painting projects in no time. The Behr ceiling paint covered nicely with minimal splatter using my paint stick. The paint dried evenly and has a smooth/even flat finish. The pure white flat ceiling nicely complements the satin white crown molding surrounding the ceiling. It's nice to purchase a product at a reasonable price and it performs well in the hands of a weekend handyman.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Pleased with paint purchase I was concerned with the paint covering a 1950s house with one coat. I did not want to have to go back over the ceiling due to my rush to get the job done and my help availability. I decided to go with Behr paint based on recommendations and was very happy I did. I priced all paints from Home depot , Lowes ,Walmart and Behr was the most competitive price and I got the quality I was looking for. It covered the ceiling in one coat Bright fresh and clean. It went on easy and I was very pleased and would recommend this paint to anyone.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Change in product I've used this product for every ceiling in my house (maybe 5 years ago), and am very happy with the results. My complaint is because when I went back to pick up another gallon to do some touch-up after putting sealer over a water stain, I discovered that they've changed the color. It's now what they call "Ultra Pure White" in all sizes of can, from the 2 gal. bucket on down to the 1 qt. can. The website image must be old, as it doesn't show that color indicator, but all the stock in the store does. Naturally, I didn't find this out until I applied it, and the new color formulation is a bright (almost hospital looking) white instead of the softer creamy off-white of the older issue. Now a small touch up mandates an entire redcoat of the ceiling... major pain. Thanks Behr!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad experience on a non-textured ceiling. I have used this paint on popcorn textured ceiling without issue, however had a bad experience this week on a slick bedroom ceiling. Prior to painting with this product the ceiling/sheetrock was primed with two (2) coats of Kilz 2 primer and looked really good, so good I considered just leaving the Kilz 2 as my paint....wished I had done that. In short, three coats of this stuff and I have what I call Orange Peel and blotchy spots everywhere. Roller lift marks are also evident in several places. Unlike a lot of paints, succesive coats of this stuff doesn't improve minor imperfections or mistakes and I had to be very dilgent to guard against roller edge paint lines. I'm not a pro by a long shot, but this isn't my first gallon of paint rolled on a ceiling either (The Kilz 2 looked very acceptable), so I don't think I'm the root cause of the flaws.

Very difficult to determine if you've covered an area well, the shades of pink and white are challenging to distinguish. Second: Marketed by sales person as only one coat needed on new drywall. It needed 3 once the pink dried away (at least 2 days). Standard white ceiling paint is MUCH more predictable and less time consuming.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from MAGIC FADING COLOR The only reason I had to buy this gallon of paint is because I painted my dining room ceiling earlier this year and the color faded DRASTICALLY. I had company coming and I had to repaint the entire ceiling. The picture shows the faded paint on the right and the left shows the new coat of paint. Lets hope the color doesn't fade this time in so short of a time.
