can exterior paint be used on interior

Asked by: Anonymous
I would check the manufacturer to see for sure. Obviously if the labels states such, you can, but your question was related to Exterior paint. I know that Sherwin Williams say Not to use their Exterior Paint Indoors because of off gassing. The idea of using an Exterior Paint on things like Interior Window sills is appealing because of the UV rays that come in through the windows and hit those areas. Exterior paint should provide better protection for these areas, but again, consult the manufacturer to see if any harmful gasses or whatever may be present in their Exterior Paint before using inside.

how many sq ft does one gallon cover?

Asked by: milleny
I've used this on trim and doors only, and never did pay attention to coverage. A gallon paints a lot of trim.

How do i thin this paint for spraying....

I am painting the doors of a bath vanity and would like a very smooth look so will be using an air paint sprayer. How do i thin this paint to apply with the pain sprayer.
Asked by: daniel
I wouldn't recommend thinning this paint. The paint does a poor job covering as is and a thinned paint will be even worse. We've had great luck with Behr Marquee paint - it goes on extremely well, whether rolling, brushing or spraying. For a few dollars more, I highly recommend getting the Marquee paint.

I have used various brands of paint, but this is by far the worse paint I have ever used! I usually go with a Sherwin Williams latex for trim but I was trying to paint trim that was already painted in this so called 'paint' product, and it was horrible to work with. It is too watery and runs no matter what you do and requires multiple coats! I will stick with my Sherwin Williams paint! Much better paint and much easier to work with! YUCK!

The paint "skinned over" and lumped up shortly after opening the gallon container for the first time. I was painting the items in my garage and the ambient air temperature was around 70 degrees. I did not like the way that this paint formed a rubbery and chunky skim-top layer in the paint can while I was using it with the lid open for less that 30 minutes each time.

I used BEHR Interior/Exterior Hi-Gloss Ultra Pure White 8050, when I purchased my home in 1995. Just last week I painted the entire interior of my home with BEHR Interior/Exterior Hi-Gloss Ultra Pure White 8050. It held up 22 years, I will only use BEHR paint from Home Depot. I also used BEHR Marquee 770F-5 Dark Ash for some of the trim, which can be seen in the picture. Along with new Bali Magnum Blinds ALL From Home Depot.

It was a couple of years old, but seemed to be fine. I am doing some room renovations and using the leftover to paint the trim. The more that I used it, the more I realized that it was drying extremely fast. I could paint a 3 ft. piece of baseboard before it was dried. Almost no wet time at all. I even purchased an additive from HD to help extend the drying time as I still had about a 1/4 gal. left. No improvement. I put it off to the fact that the paint was a couple of years old and there wasn't that much left, so I just used it until it was gone. I figured that a new gallon would be ok. However, the new gallon, while a little better, is not enough so to be useful. I have enough to do to use up this gallon, but not really sure what I'll do in the future. If I was using this in a large area with a roller or something, I fear that it would be very difficult to prevent overlap streaks.

The only thing worse than this paint is Behr Primer. 2 coats of primer 3 coats of paint and stains still bleed through. I had used Sherwin-Williams paint in the past and was able to cover the same approximate area with only three gallons and no primer. NEVER USING BEHR AGAIN!

It looked like the primer in the paint came to the surface & dried white. Right now the walls in the whole house look terrible & splotchy. Not sure what to do.
