Answer:
Ceiling white is ceiling white. It dries to a matte/flat finish. If you are looking for an "off" white, you may want to choose one of their off white colors, and purchasing it in a flat (no sheen) finish.

Yes, it can be mixed to a custom color of white, but apparently, paint department associates at some Home Depot stores will tell you otherwise. That was my experience anyway. An associate at one store said no, while an employee at another store said yes, and did it for me. The first employee said something about the two gallon pail not fitting into the shaking machine.

The ceiling paint does not for the 2-gallon.
The gallon ceiling paint could be tinted or self-tinted, but unless you're close with a HD associate, they will deny your request to tint the paint.
Stick to the UPW/UPP (1050) and have that tinted to the shade of your liking.

no, save some money buy bright white regular paint, it's more cost effective and you won't have to paint more than 3 times to get the same coverage. Stay away from Behr products

Once you've applied the textured paint on the walls it may look great and cover the imperfections but if you grow tired of it, it is difficult to remove down the road. Better to treat the walls correctly the first time, even if you go over them with 1/4 in. sheetrock or put on a skim coat of plaster.

The ceiling paint is designed to hide and mask imperfections in the ceiling, so not to see them. There is not a sheen or glare on the ceiling paint. You never want any shine on the ceiling. As for your walls, I would use DIF and a wallpaper tool to remove the wallpaper. Should there be any damage to the drywall surface, I would skim coat it with a drywall compound, mud, then lightly wet sand it with a designed sponge. Thoroughly let it dry, then one light dry sanding with the sanding tool to maintain a even and flat surface. Finally, prime it. Priming is a must. Then paint and never install wallpaper again. That is my personal opinion. There are consequences to pay for using wallpaper and then going back to paint. MORE WORK!!! One last tip, NEVER PAINT OVER WALLPAPER!!!! Read Less

Dear Maggie,
Thank you very much for your question. We do not recommend covering wallpaper with a water-based paint or texture paint. The water-base product will reactivate the wallpaper glue, thus resulting in a whole new set of problems. First, you must seal in the wallpaper with an oil-base primer. Our recommendation is to apply a coat of Kilz® Original Oil-Based Primer & Sealer in order to seal in that wallpaper.
Following the primer step, it sounds like you would like to easily cover some ceiling imperfections using our BEHR PREMIUM PLUS® "Popcorn Ceiling" Texture Paint. This textured product is specifically designed just for that purpose. BEHR PREMIUM PLUS "Popcorn Ceiling" Texture Paint will cover those ceiling imperfections and leave behind a even, textured ceiling surface. Please follow the back label instructions for proper product application.
As a side note, your question was asked on our BEHR PREMIUM PLUS Ceiling Paint #558 product page. The Textured Ceiling Paint you are seeking is called BEHR PREMIUM PLUS® "Popcorn Ceiling" Texture Paint #559. Thank you very much. Read Less

If you are trying to smooth damage from wallpaper removal, prime with oil and use 220-grit sandpaper to smooth the surface when dry (primer dries in about an hour).
After smoothing, prime again and then paint.
If you are trying to create texture to cover the wallpaper damage, prime with oil and then paint using a longer than normal nap ... 3/4 or 1-1/4 nap will pull at the paint as you roll and create a slightly dimpled "orange peel." Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Flat Interior Ceiling Paint Easy instruction to follow. Like the size of this container and the easy clean up! Great coverage. April 19, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by There are better products out there I have bought many things from the home depot. I guess the best you can hope for from The Home Depot. At least they didn't repackage it and send it as a new product ,as they have many times to me. The paint is just ok nothing better to say than that. I needed a few coats to cover a large area ceiling, and still needed to touch up areas. As for other thing I bought I was very disappointed. When I ordered online to pick up in store, everything was already packaged for me. when I got home I realized some things like the hinge jig was open and re-taped shut and missing parts AND USED. Enough to make you crazy. I would forget pick up if you want to get anything new. Check it out yourself. May 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ceiling paint-good product This is a very good product and the price is right! I would recommend this to anyone who is wanting to paint, repaint ceiling. May 24, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not something I would purchase again. I put three coats of this product over new and primed drywall. No matter how I rolled it, It streaked. It is almost impossible to get a good finish with this product. I seems to dry faster than you can fill the roller to continue painting. I've painted many a ceiling without a problem until I used this. May 17, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product I had to paint several rooms in my house and I was advised by my painter to pick this particular paint up. It really covered the ceiling well and I only had to use 1 coat.. I was able to save on time because I didn't have to add an extra coat to the ceiling. May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great value product I've gone through about 6 gallons of this Behr interior paint and has made my ceiling look amazing. I've had to do 2-3 coats in areas where the previous house owner has the ceiling painted dark chocolate and only 1 (a small touch ups) for another room going from white with satin finish to white with matte. Overall I would recomment this paint, specially when it goes on sale. great product for the price December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best ceiling paint Paint looks great in my house ceiling. Dried quickly and covered really good. May 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Rate it - Very good Used this for bed room ceilings. Works very good. Cost is low and paint is very good quality. I returned to buy more for two additional bedrooms. May 25, 2016
