will this work with semi-gloss paint?

I'm remodeling my kitchen and the new design has a 'feature wall' behind the breakfast nook. We're going to put a semi-gloss finish on this wall. If I use this primer over the new drywall, can I paint the semi-gloss right over it - or do I need to add another/different primer coat first?
Asked by: Anonymous
NO not applied on it or ober the top of it. Use a paint with the primer in it and have it tinted.

Can tint be added to this primer?

Asked by: Anonymous
I haven't done it yet with this primer , my experience with other brands of primers is no problem. The Behr products from my experience are very cross compatible, I don't think you will have any problems having the help desk do a pre-tint color add.

5-gal. Interior Drywall Primer and Sealer is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 164.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good value; not sure if it's worth it Good product. Good price point. But after using it I'm not sure if it's really worth the effort. If you need a white background, covering a horrible color/paint underneath, you can just use Flat or Satin Behr paint + primer. It gives you better coverage because of paint pigments. The primer-only in my opinion is just a waste of money and time. I agree that price-wise this is much cheaper, probably third of the price ($13-ish vs $30-ish) but you also have to apply this primer 3 or 4 times to cover an existing color.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible! Do not use this Primer! Had a professional painter come prep/clean walls and spray this primer on my walls and ceiling. After he finished we were planning to paint. We picked up paint two days after the primer had been placed and while rolling the paint on patches of primer were coming off the wall. I called the painter and he said this is why he does not use Behr. It's a terrible product. He came back, fixed everything, and then sprayed primer from Sherwin Williams. Same prep much better results.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not a stain sealer I saw "sealer" in title, and thought that this would seal the wall up as a solid base to paint over, yet I wasn't able to seal my walls enough to not show the drywall color from the tape joints, nor seal any raw wood (looks extremely yellow showing through). I had some water stains I didn't know I had until I cleaned out my garage, and unfortunately, that shines through as well. Having to buy a specific STAIN sealer. Honestly, I am confused as to what a "sealer" seals in?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good primer sealer for new drywall Worked well, could of been a little thicker for a better coat. Some places it worked great some coulda used two coats. Worked great with Behr paint. But Glidden Diamond sucked! Worse paint ever! At least on primed dryway.

It was easy to apply, sealed the drywall and ceiling, and provided a good base for the top coat of paint. Bought it in January 2017, and it met my expectations.
