Is it still possible to buy the old formula Behr Premium Plus Eggshell No. 2050?

I need to match paint that I currently have, but do not want to re-paint the entire basement. I don't trust the new Zero VOC formula to match the existing finish after reading the reviews.

Although it is better than previous versions of paint and primer combined. It still requires a lot more coats that if you have the paint and primer separate. I think it is rather silly to put primer in paint unless it works as well as buying the product separately.

We have tried all types of their paint from their top-of-the-line "one-coat" guarantee" to their ceiling paint and have had poor to average results with all of them. We have painted our entire house, inside and out this last year and this stuff has not met expectations in any application. The premium plus has been the lowest performer by far. it took three coats of gray to cover an old and dingy white - THREE COATS TO COVER WHITE. We returned the paint because I thought it was defective. They gave me an in-store credit that cannot be used for anything online. We went and spent the same amount of money per gallon elsewhere and got complete coverage in one coat (Pittsburgh paint). I would not recommend. I think the basic glidden performed better than any of the behr products have.

We bought the paint and primer deliberately so that we could paint over tan walls in one coat. That never happened. In fact when we got to the last couple of rooms (the entire townhouse we were painting was painted in the same "tan" color. We used Zinzer 123 primer as the 1st coat. To our disappointment we still had to put 2 finish coats on. Next time (and you learn as you live) we will 1.) ask that the Zinzer 123 primer be tinted and 2.) not bother with the cost of the paint / primer in one and just go with and expect 2 finish coats of paint. The paint and primer are not worth the cost and don't perform as promised.

I used all Behr products on my last project and was really impressed with the wall paint. While the ceiling paint did not cover as much as it said and the High Gloss trim paint was rather awful as far as glossiness and sticking ability, this Eggshell Pain and Primer has been fantastic. I could have gone 1 coat it want on the nice, but I did 2 just to catch those areas that may have been missed with the first coat. I bought the 5 gals because I plan to use this in other rooms as well, so now I am looking forward to moving on to the next project.

It was applied in a hallway that had the original (25 year old) flat white base; never painted before. Perhaps the base was too porous or old? I had hoped that it would cover in one coat, but didn't. I ended up purchasing another gallon. The sales person said the the one coat coverage guarantee didn't apply to custom colors. the "custom" was white and the old base was white, so this seemed a bit odd for a white on white not to cover or have the guarantee.

I had the store look up the original brand and color (Sherman-Williams, Fleeting Green) and the color match they prepared was prefect. I was able to touch-up some fairly extensive repairs, feathering the edges with care, without repainting the entire surface. This was an enormous time and materials savings. It goes on well and covers great. Zero VOC is vital for me because my wife is very sensitive to airborne chemicals and she is able to tolerate this paint.

This paint takes at least 3 coats to look acceptable but not good. Spend the extra few dollars and get the Premium plus ULTRA or even better get the Marque. I have now used all 3. The ultra will take 2 coats but looks great, the Marque really does cover in one coat ( as long as the color you are painting is darker or the same color value). I have textured walls so I do have to do some touch ups with the Marque but only because I end up with a few spots missed because of the bumpy texture. I was painting a small wall that I had already primed and figured that I could use the cheaper paint, boy was I wrong!!! I painted my living/dining room area with the marque without primer and it looks great. This small wall I am painting now looks horrible. I'm going to get the Marque and cover it all up tomorrow.

I normally buy the best paint Behr sells but decided the room I was painting was that big and would buy their cheaper paint. I was so disappointed with the coverage and immediately regretted my decision. I used the entire gallon of paint on a room that should require maybe 1/2 a gallon. You can still see the color underneath the paint but I do not want to spend more money to paint the room again and it looks okay I guess. Will never buy this again.
