Answer:
Color can be added but buyers beware-- some Home Depots will not take back or refund custom paint. You need to find out if the warranty hold after adding colors also.

Answer:
A color can be added, but why? This paint is a primer. I think Behr just relabeled their primer as a paint.

I am assuming that you would be able to have color added. Better ask an expert - bought this paint for ceilings.

How bad is the odor?

I live in Florida and will probably have 2 first floor rooms painted in hot months (May-June). Obviously I have a/c along with overhead fans but I'm concerned about getting headaches and not being able sleep if there's a strong odor.

Thanks!

Answer:
It depends on how much area you are painting. Example just the walls in one room? The room you sleep in? I just painted 1/2 of my house inside spraying walls and ceilings done by 2pm. Odor by 11pm still there by I wouldn't want to sleep in a new painted room. Ok by the next day.

The odor is pretty mild at best. It goes away quickly as it dries. Don't purchase to much at one time. It goes bad quickly

Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question. While odor is somewhat subjective, BEHR PREMIUM PLUS® is the lower odor paint that we offer, and it also dissipates fast after the project is completed. We do suggest, however, that you consider leaving the windows open for a couple of hours after painting to help quickly remove any odors. Hope that helps, and best of luck on your project.

Newer cans seem to have a higher sheen?

I own dozens of apartments and have been painting and touching up acres of walls using Behr flat tinted to Cottage white. I have been able to touch up the paint after years and had perfect results. The last 2- 5 gallon pails bought within the last 6 months are a perfect color match but the sheen is greater so when viewed at an angle the touchups are obvious. This never happened before and I am extremely unhappy that it looks like I will no longer be able to touch up like I have in the past but every apartment will require an entire repaint to look good! Has the formula changed? Is Behr aware of any sheen difference in the flat paint they produce today over what thay made 2 years ago. This is going to have a mojor impact on my business.

Thanks,
-David T

David, you probably have the answer already, but just in case.... No, I don't believe the sheen has changed.I recently was able to match several different 13-year-old paints with new paints with no problem. However, I learned that the real thing that you have to match is to make sure the base is the same. It is not enough just to ask for the same color and sheen i.e., flat, satin, semi, etc. And you also can't rely on the can colors, as they change. The base number will be on the front of the can typically either above the Big Behr logo or in the middle at the bottom. Just look at your old paint cans for this number and give this number with the color number. You simply can't guess on this one. I learned that, even though I used all flat, in different rooms with different colors, the base numbers were different. I've attached a photo of the number to look for. I have shopped and purchased a whole lot of paint over the years at Home Depot and none of the men helping me explained this to me. This year I was touching up paint and had the color number, can color and sheen (interior flat), but I was not getting matched. Very frustrating. But then, a woman at the paint service counter took the time to explain that I needed to match the base numbers. And voila. Perfect matches. No full wall repainting needed. Read Less

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 267 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Water for paint I was a Glidden customer thru Home Depot for years. Then HD bought? Behr and started promoting it. I've worked with it on 3 projects. This will be my last! My painters actually had to apply 3 to 4 coats to get proper coverage and this was Behrs premium line. It is expensive and the quality is poor! I won't use this brand again! May 10, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Another job well done Product works well.. Definitely better coverage than gladden ... Time is money November 12, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Awful Three coats over a pale gray and I still have to do more to get complete coverage. This paint flows terribly- even with a loaded 2.5" brush you'll be lucky to get a solid 16" line. Off the roller it sags. As a primer it fails and as a paint it is a waste of money- and it's not the cheapest paint. The convenience of grabbing it on a Depot run was completely negated because of the time wasted by having to apply three coats. Should have stuck with Ben Moore. March 26, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Smells like a dirty cat litter box! The paint coverage was great, but the smell while it was drying was horrible! It took over two weeks for the smell to vanish. March 1, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Needs two coats even when applied to a previously-primed surface I hesitate to not recommend the product. The color is good for an "ultra pure white", it adheres well, and is easily worked. The problem I experienced is that the coverage was not exceptional. I used this to paint my ceilings which were all previously primed with PVA, and it is obvious that a second coat is required even though I was painting white-on-white. My next biggest gripe is that the finish does not look like flat to me; it has a definitively higher sheen. February 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product The Behr premium ultra pure white is a great product, is all I need for a perfect finish. Unlike other painting stores out there that are only names and way too expensive. Home Depot is my preferred store. February 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 5 Gal. Ultra Pure White Flat Interior Paint Paint went on the ceiling and walls of the garage easily. Both walls and ceilings were textured, and one coat covered both completely. In fact over half of the walls were brand new texture. I thought the new texture would take an extra coat, but after the paint dried I could not tell where the new texture was. December 27, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst paint ever Needed 5 coats of white to cover beige. Bought a 5 gallon bucket, quit using it after it was 1/2 gone. Normally I love Behr paint but trying to save a little $$ cost me a lot of time and aggravation. Awful. January 6, 2016
