painting over semi-gloss

I'm painting a bathroom which now has semigloss on the walls. Whoever painted it before must have used the wrong roller cause the walls have an orange peel look. I wet sanded the walls with 180 paper but I couldn't get all those little nooks left by the wrong roller. Could I use two coats of this paint without putting a straight primer on the walls first ?

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 942 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by If I could put a negative 5 stars, I would This is absolute junk. I've painted a lot of things (drywall, wood, metal, etc.) with oil and latex. This time I painted a bookcase. Prior to painting with this product, I heavily cleaned the bookcase with TSP and allowed it to dry. I confirmed with Home Depot I didn't need to sand with this product prior to application. I started carefully removing the tape. Basically, it looked absolutely horrible, not a single clean line anywhere. I am taking this back today and demanding my money back...never again Behr. I am so mad I'm just going to hire somebody. August 25, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This product needs attention This paint was applied 1 day after purchased. I used proper rollers. It was watery & dripping. After the paint was applied the original flat aqua color bled through. I also painted a second coat the following day and it still bled through. See the attached pictures May 9, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Never seen paint peel like this before We have been repainting our entire house, ceiling and walls. We picked our colors and after we had done all of our celiings we started with our new beautiful wall colors. Every room, every color ripped off the paint with the tape like it was plastic. We have spent 3 times the amount of time just trying to fix the mess than painting it. We had prepped clean walls, we waited less time and more time to pull the tape off and no change. The paint is thicker than I would have expected it to be very jelly like all cans. We purchased 15 gallons total to do entire house and we had a couple of gallons that were for accent walls or the bathroom. This was the most disappointing purchase we have ever made from Home Depot. We are renovating the entire house so we are in the store what seems like daily but this has been the most frustrating part of the remodel. SO DISSAPOINTED in this product. Has wasted a ton of time and still trying to get it to look right August 12, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst paint change We painted a red on the walls & 6 months later, I have to repair spots. We used a Berh primer before using this paint & the paint has come off the wall like it never stuck to the wall. I have used the original formula for years with no problems, but now that they have changed the paint to primer & paint in one, I can't get the same quality. I hate the new primer/paint combo. After 6 months of drying time, we taped a small area of the red & when we removed the tape, the paint came along with it. I am looking for a better paint because this primer/paint combo is nothing like the original formula & does not wear well. December 21, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Coverage seems to be great, One coat Not sure why some bad reviews? We did our living with 20 foot ceilings and it looks fantastic. Now actually the Marquee is a smoother finish, just don't try to stretch your area. Apply plenty of paint! The cleaning of the paint on the wall doesn't seem to work to good. May 30, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by horrible, cannot even block pencil stain Wife brought 3 gallons of this pain (2 baby blue and one dark blue) for children's room. This paint cannot even block pencil mark stain. Other mark such as crayon bleed through as if you did not paint it at all. I did 3-5 coats at the stain area and it I still have the stain bleed through (if i can compare the coverage or stain blocker achieved it's like just taking a wet towel and wiping on the stain). Over price product that promise to have primer and stain blocker does nothing to what it promise or advertised. The only thing that this paint block is it's own color. Cannot return like Vaspar paint and get a new one. Like other reviewers said this pain does not even deserve one star. I don't know how this product can get such high rating. I guess if you use it on a virgin white wall then maybe it be true to it's color but then you can use some other pain that is $10-$15 less and get the same result. It's a waste of money and my time. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 3rd coat and still showing previous color The white is still not covering the previous paint (light grey). The trims around the ceiling, molding keep showing after 3 coats. I have used eggshell on a matte base. I will never buy this finish again nor this paint. June 14, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Time Waster! My parents remodeled their home and loved Behr paint. I think the only reason it worked was they were painting over drywall. I wanted to freshen up our bathroom and bought a gal of Asparagus (bright green) to go over a white-green. The Home Depot employee recommended this paint in case I was covering an ultra gloss. This paint is not one coat by any means. It's way to watery. I've already gone over some sections and it looks like I'll still have touch up. It's not the quality of the brush or roller either. I just painted a hallway with paint from a competitor and got away with only minor touchup. I literally just did that yesterday and have included a picture. February 2, 2013
