Customer Questions & Answers

does this come in different shades of white

Asked by: Anonymous
Ceiling white is ceiling white. It dries to a matte/flat finish. If you are looking for an "off" white, you may want to choose one of their off white colors, and purchasing it in a flat (no sheen) finish.

Can I use the textured ceiling paint to smooth out primed, nasty because of wallpaper removal walls?

Asked by: Maggie
I would avoid textured paint for this purpose. You would be better off purchasing flat white rolls of called wall liners - it is like wall paper, except it hides the mistakes in the old walls - when you paint over it, it looks like a brand new wall.

Is this paint appropriate for a bathroom ceiling?

Is this paint appropriate for a bathroom ceiling?
Asked by: AJ
I would say no because of moisture in the bathroom. I would use semi gloss or gloss. This paint will stand up to moisture better.

1 gal. No.UL150-9 Ceiling Tinted to Pillar White Interior Paint is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 514.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Behr Bright White ceiling paint adds light and freshness to any room. I am a Realtor and many homes that we list require a cosmetic facelift, and/or overdue maintenance items that the home owner never kept up with, and even light renovations. We do some of the work ourselves, and also hire contractors and supervise the work as a service to our sellers. Painting is almost ALWAYS on the list of things to do prior to listing. We use nothing but Behr paint, and this bright white (which we prefer to the regular, and duller, color) ceiling paint is always perfect. Coverage is great, the bright white choice adds light and illumination to rooms making them look bigger and fresher, and the clients love it. Great quality paint is the only way to go. No, it's not the cheapest, but the cheap ones require more coats (more WORK!), and don't dry as evenly.

I used to hate to paint but have found that quality paint, brushes, rollers and tape make painting very rewarding when you have finished a project. I used to buy $12 a gallon paint but used 2x-3x the amount of paint and all the extra time for the additional coats is what made me hate to paint. Behr is going to cost you more up front but the time savings and the quality of the finished job are well worth the cost. I have not come across a time Behr paint hasn't covered in one coat. When painting large areas do yourself a favor and invest in 12" roller covers, frame and paint tray and you'll be surprised how quickly you can knock out that 37' x 16' ceiling like I did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Ceiling Paint This paint went on easy and covered in one coat. It was also very reasonably priced. I used it on my porch which I recently renovated. The ceiling and the porch had not been painted in 15 years. I had no problem covering the old paint and making it look new again. I liked it so much I painted the walls to match. Granted I was paining white over white, but the to make me happy it had to cover in one coat and it did.

I used this paint to paint over a ceiling that was a very light tan, it took 3 coats to completely cover the old paint. I also had to go back and touch up some small spots for various reasons after the third coat, but that was a mistake on my part as this 4th coat on those spots now shows when viewed at an angle from the adjacent room, i hadn't had this issue before when touching up walls, but that was using a different paint. I would only recommended this if you are painting over an already perfectly white ceiling just to "spruce it up".

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not good at cover hide and shows roller start / stop marks even in flat I was disappointed. I like Behr paint. We needed to cover a ceiling that had been painted a brown/green ceiling. I wanted to use premium plus ultra Matte but the HD person said the ceiling paint would be better. It was also less expensive so we gave it a shot. This is a huge ceiling covering foyer, kitchen, breakfast area and keeping room. It looked horrible after one coat even though we kept a wet edge everywhere. It dried with blotches and streaks which may be normal but we REALLY wanted one coat and had applied as heavy as possible without it dripping or running. We also used 1/2" nap roller. So we had to paint a second coat and roll the second coat as fast as possible since it dries quick. This gave it a much better look with much less streaks or blotchy lines. Just a lot of work and wish I had stuck with Matte.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful, Awful, Awful... Did I say Awful? This is the worst paint product you can possibly buy. Michelangelo would leave roller marks with this junk. I have gone through 15 gallons of this crud and the same results EVERY TIME! That is not an exaggeration. I bought 4 different brands of rollers including top of the line Wooster Lambswool, Micro fiber and a Micro fiber blend. I tried 3/8 nap and it left streaks. Then I thought maybe a 1/2" nap would help get more paint on the ceiling and get rid of the roller marks... Same results. It looks like a 2nd grader with bad eyesight painted my celings. I have spent $240 on this paint and tomorrow I am going to Benjamin Moore to buy real paint. Not only am I out $240 but I am out DAYS of my own time and hours of unnecessary frustration. You would be better off throwing 2% milk on the ceiling than using Behr paint. To the manufacturer, you should be ashamed of yourself for bringing this product to market. I could find better quality paint at a dollar store.

Granted I'm only a small time handyman, I do paint quite a bit, and this brand of paint has never failed to deliver satisfying results. Their premium is reasonably priced, and in my experience performs with the best of any much more expensive brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Covered in one coat! Our living room had not been painted in 10 years. So the ceiling was stained from years of smoking. I used behr flat ceiling paint and it covered all but the corners with 1 coat. the corners were stained from smoke so it took a few coats.
