Customer Questions & Answers

do i need primer first

Asked by: bill
There are a lot of factors involved to determine if you need a primer (color you are painting over, quality of roller covers, color you are painting the ceiling, etc.). I would recommend asking your local paint supplier and provide them your specifics.

Is this paint good for a popcorn ceiling thats never been painted ?

Asked by: JamesGang52
We just removed popcorn ceilings in 4 rooms with one to go. You could use this paint for painting it but if I were you I really consider removing it. No matter how you paint the popcorn ceiling it will spatter. Also if you ever get a water spot or a stain that removes the texture when cleaned, it will always show. It is a pain to remove and you should plastic drape the ENTIRE Room with plastic ( we used the kind to cover windows that come with double sided tape) and the floor I used old plastic shower curtains I saved for drop cloths. They can be moved easy from room to room and hosed off . We wet the ceiling with water in a garden sprayer let sit for about 10 min. then used scraper and a lot of elbow grease. Bought a scraper online that U use a plastic bag on, but did not work very well for the kind of sandy texture of ours.

Is this a good paint to use on bare drywall?

I've read that a special paint should be used when painting bare drywall because the drywall has a tendency to suck up a lot of paint.
Asked by: Anonymous
I have never tried it on bare drywall but I think it would work with maybe a second coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Coverage We moved into a house that needed complete interior repainting. The contractor beige over multiple dark colors was our initial challenge, but Behr covered them all. Then came the beadboard ceiling in the family room. The fireplace had added a coating of greasy black grime across most of the ceiling. We scrubbed, but made little progress other than smudging it to a lighter gray. Two coats of Premium Plus Ultra Stain-Blocking Ceiling Paint covered it completely! We LOVE Behr. Feels like a new home! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

The builder never sealed the textured ceilings. So we scraped the texturing off and painted using the 'STAIN-BLOCKING CEILING PAINT, PAINT & PRIMER IN ONE'. It did take 2 coats just to cover everything because of the textured ceiling never have been painted. The ceilings look GREAT !!! I do not use any other kind of paint but BEHR !

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's Just OK. I used this Behr Ultra, Ultra Pure White Flat to paint my bedroom and bathroom ceilings over off-white primer. It took 2 heavy coats and I still see some thin areas. Rather disappointing for mid-grade paint from a reputable brand. It seems a bit more odorous than their Ultra wall paint. It's not a terrible product and I haven't experienced better yet with another brand, so it's a decent choice.

Used this on a ceiling that was previously a popcorn finish that I scraped off and mudded in areas that needed it. Rest was clean drywall. After one coat of primer and two coats of this, the ceiling looks outstanding. No roller marks or blotchy areas. Looks great, highly recommended.
