What shade of blue goes with chili pepper red?

Asked by: Anonymous
Hi Chela, Chili Pepper 180B-7 is an appropriately named color- it is a HOT red. Please note that a tinted primer is recommended for this color and it will require multiple coats. Not having more details on your project, I will give you a couple of suggestions for pairing Chili Pepper 180B-7 with blue. I do assume in all of the recommendations that you are using Chili Pepper 180B-7 as an accent color so I have not recommended blues that are as deep and vibrant as Chili Pepper. A very popular trend right now is hot red and soft turquoise. It is big in everything from home furnishings, to wedding colors and the combination even made quite an appearance in holiday decor this past December. To play to the blue influence, choose a soft turquoise that is more blue than green, such as Harmonious UL220-6 or Agave UL220-18. The soft, cool turquoise will allow Chili Pepper 180B-7 to pop since it will not be competing for attention in the room. This is a very modern take on the classic blue / red combination. A hot red such as Chili Pepper 180B-7 is very strong and when it is paired with a blue, it easily takes on a patriotic feel. If this is the look you desire, Forever Denim UL230-5 is a solid and muted blue or Simply Blue UL240-15 is an appropriate sky-blue. The combination does have patriotic undertones without becoming a literal translation of the American Flag colors. If you are trying to pair a blue with Chili Pepper without the patriotic feel, I recommend that you look at a blue that is very muted or grayed so that the blue is an undertone. Coastal Vista UL230-6 feels grayed until you put it next to Chili Pepper and then the blue undertones start to emerge. I also like Polar Drift UL230-11 for this same reason if you are looking for a very light and subtle blue. For more combinations, visit COLORSMART by BEHR at behr.com. There, you are able to take a starting color, such as Chili Pepper, select whether it is the main color accent color and so on, and the program will automatically generate suggested combinations. In any case, I would recommend exploring your options by testing the colors with BEHR 8 oz. sample jars next to a sample of Chili Pepper. Your room's lighting will have a big effect on the success of the combination and this is the best way to make certain you choose the colors that are best for you. Thanks for your inquiry!

At first I thought this paint was a little pricey, but after application and good coverage it's worth the price. So far this year I've purchased 20 gallons of Behr natural sealer and 10 gallons of Behr premium exterior paint for my home and outbuildings. I hope it will last.

I purchased the stock white paint to coat approximately 185 S. F. of brand new pre-primed lap siding. I used all but about 1 oz. of the product which should have been more than enough to adequately cover the surface. WRONG! The entire surface is splotchy and you can see every roller overlap, and the whole paint job is completely see through. the pre-primed panels were a light beige so it should have covered easily. The paint guy at Home Depot was completely clueless and just wanted to get out of the discussion about what to do. He disappeared when I turned away for a moment. Don't buy this junk!

We used the BEHR Premium Plus Ultra paint on a new pressure treated wood front porch. We let the porch dry-out for 2 months before painting and the temp was above 60 deg. We painted with brushes. The paint went on smoothly but you could see that this is not one coat paint We let the first coat dry for 3 days then applied the second coat. At first I didn't think the second coat was going to cover good enough but after the paint dried it looked very good. We are happy with the BEHR Premium Plus Ultra Paint and might apply a third this summer just for good measure.

Our first experience using this brand was repainting concrete boards on our newly purchased older home. The coverage was great and one coat met my husband's exacting standards, so it was a no brainer to purchase the same brand when we repaired and repainted the eaves of the house. Even though we are putting white over dirty yellow, it is covering well. We would use this product again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Paint! I used Behr paint around fifteen years ago. It took multiple coats to get a finished product. Too much effort. This time around I used the paint/primer in one and, once again, instead of covering in one coat, as a similar Dutch Boy product did recently, it has taken multiple coats. I will not be using this product again.

The Behr paint did make a good primer ence though the wood had all been painted prior.
