I am planning to paint the ceiling of my unfinished basement. House is 4 years old with galvanized metal duct work. Do I need to prime the ducts after cleaning with water or can I just apply this paint directly.

Thanks for your question. No, while this product can adhere to galvanized metal, proper surface prep is needed. This includes creating a profile on the surface by using sandpaper, steel wool, abrasive blasting, or other abrading methods. After rinsing with water and allowing the surface to dry, please prime with a product like our No. 75 All-In-One primer on the same day as the cleaning. Finally, you'd be ready to paint. Please note that if the duct work gives off extremes of heat or cold, then this could reduce the lifespan of our coating. Best wishes for your project!

Answer:
Hi A2,
Thanks for your question! Our Premium Plus Ultra Interior Matte paint has primer in it already, so there's no need to apply a separate primer to your wooden ceiling. Your first coat will act as your primer coat, and any additional coats after that (1-2) will build up color and a uniform finish. Best wishes for your project! - Sara

Answer:
Hello Rae,
Great question. We do not recommend our paints to be applied over surfaces that are exposed to extreme heat. If the surface gets too hot to touch, then we would not recommend our product.
Best regards,
Kevin

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by We are painting our new home inside and out and have found Behr to have the better colors over other brands. October 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Paint! We just bought a new home with some not so attractive paint color in the rooms. We used Behr ultra paint and the colors are so beautiful and they covered the old paint so well! September 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Paint. The great neutralizer! This paint and primer in one is amazing. We actually had a wall in two different rooms that had been accent walls. After eight years I was ready to change up the look. We painted over the dark accent color and it covered the wall and the old color in two good coats of the lighter paint. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best paint Great coverage! We use it on for closure houses and the stuff we have to cover in one coat comes out nice! October 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I used this paint to cover darker colors with much a much lighter color and did it easily in one coat. October 25, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very good quality paint. However, I've found in some situations it requires more than one coat if you are painting over another color that doesn't closely match the new color. Also recommend stirring approximately every 30 minutes as it seems the nano-particles within the paint settle to the bottom and you can see visible differences in the paint sheen once it dries. It's an awesome value if you can buy it when Home Depot is running their $10/gallon rebate offer. October 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice coverage This is a very nice paint with very little smell and virtually no splatter when rolling on walls. Also, you actually get a full gallon of paint. Many paint company's are now only giving you 116 oz. I still did two coats to get excellent coverage, but I'm very picky. June 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Paint for a Lot Less This paint goes on as smoothly and covers as well as the much higher priced name brand paint at the stand alone stores. Again, it covered very well and looks nice and smooth. I have already touched up one spot and the touch up can't be found on the wall now. A tip for nice touch-ups..........use a small brush to put it on the wall, then make a ball out of a paper towel and touch the spot to give it the textured look of a roller. You may have to add more paint and touch it again until the paper towel is wet enough to leave the proper look. Definitely recommend the paint. September 13, 2016
