I am planning to paint the ceiling of my unfinished basement. House is 4 years old with galvanized metal duct work. Do I need to prime the ducts after cleaning with water or can I just apply this paint directly.

Hello A2,
Thanks for your question. No, while this product can adhere to galvanized metal, proper surface prep is needed. This includes creating a profile on the surface by using sandpaper, steel wool, abrasive blasting, or other abrading methods. Then, please clean the surface by scrubbing with a detergent and water solution. After rinsing with water and allowing the surface to dry, please prime with a product like our No. 75 All-In-One primer on the same day as the cleaning. Finally, you'd be ready to paint. Please note that if the duct work gives off extremes of heat or cold, then this could reduce the lifespan of our coating. Best wishes for your project!

Answer:
Hi A2,
Thanks for your question! Our Premium Plus Ultra Interior Matte paint has primer in it already, so there's no need to apply a separate primer to your wooden ceiling. Your first coat will act as your primer coat, and any additional coats after that (1-2) will build up color and a uniform finish. Best wishes for your project! - Sara

Answer:
Hello JDiaz,
We appreciate your question. No, a separate primer is not needed in most instances with this paint of ours as it has a built-in primer. This is also a good paint for higher humidity, as it's higher sheen will make it easier to repel moisture. We wouldn't expect a primer to lend to this feature. Please be sure to follow all label instructions for best results. Well wishes!

Answer:
Hello bmg9400,
Thanks for your question. Yes, as long as any existing mold or mildew is removed from the surface before it is applied, this paint provides a mildew resistant finish that helps prevent it from growing on top of the painted areas. Please follow all label instructions for best results. Well wishes for your project!

5 gal. Ultra Pure White Satin Enamel Interior Paint is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 1206.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this paint. Regardless of the color you choose (because if it's too dark or too light, that's really your own fault) - the color I bought with this paint was very accurate and it went on the wall smoothly. I did need two coats, but barely. Very happy with this paint and will buy again. Note: In addition to this paint, buying good painting brushes also helps. You get what you pay for. I purchased really good brushes so I'm sure that helped as well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Coverage Bought this paint because of a rebate promotion. Three coats in one room yielded okay coverage--can still see lines where I cut around the trim--so I primed the next room before using this paint + primer and three coats later, I can still see the difference between the rolled and brushed areas. This paint does not cover well, and it blends horribly. I've been painting for 23 years, and I won't be wasting my time with this junk again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Paint color! Satin is easy to clean! This paint is easy to coat the entire room with. When dry, it was very easy to clean. Already painted the basement with this Satin paint (same color). Planning to do additional rooms...........

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not very good I have been using real paint, Sherwin Williams and Ben Moore, but found myself needing to quickly paint a bathroom and thought I could save time by picking this product up while I was at Home Depot for other items. Compared to the above mentioned brands, this paint is messy to work with (much thinner, drippier, prone to splatter) and covers very poorly. I have just applied the paint, so I don't know yet how well it will hold up. I doubt it will be any better than Williams or Moore (I've been pleased with those) and my disappointment with the application of the Behr is enough to never buy it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kitchen & Dining Room Very pleased with the way it covered (in one coat). Was not stinky, dried fast and was easy to clean up. I'm definitely sold on Behr paint. One more thing: When looking at colors, I purchased a a competitor's brand. Not a good experience at all. It didn't glide on like the Behr paint, it took several coats to cover what Behr covered in one paint stroke. Definitely an eye opener, and I'll NEVER purchase that particular brand of paint for anything (unless it's to give to a terrible friend or my worst enemy!!)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No ONE coat coverage Bought this at our local Home Depot as the clerk recommended this product for one coat coverage. I am painting my granddaughters small 10 x 10 bedroom. The color was originally blue and she wanted yellow. We asked the clerk the best paint to get to cover. I am now going back to Home Depot to purchase another gallon. This paint is horrible. Will be applying the third coat tonight. I was reading the other reviews, not sure why people rated this so high. I know, I will never be buying this paint again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Performance...does not measure up to marketing description Was extremely disappointed in this paint. Three coats resulted in "barely adequate" coverage. I'm still not completely satisfied with the results, and seriously considering starting over with a different brand paint. I'm certainly not going to buy more of this brand to apply a fourth coat. Equally poor performance in self-priming ("paint and primer in one...") over repaired/fresh drywall as well as covering a previous, only slightly darker, color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding product and price As always Home Depot laveen met and exceeded performance standards with the custom color mixing and service. I use an older color not on the displays and they looked it up and was able to match the color perfectly. Paint is top notch with a very high end look and feel. I buy and sell homes and the paint I use from Home Depot is always noted as looking very expensive
