Customer Questions & Answers

When you use the flakes, do you need to apply a sealer?

Asked by: Anonymous
I've done one both ways- I recommend the sealer for the add protection and the look. However, it is not needed if you are trying to lower the overall cost of the project.

do you mix one bag of Behr decorative flakes with one gallon of paint or what?

Asked by: Anonymous
No Lee, You paint the area to be decorated with flakes first , then you put the flakes in a bucket or container and shake the smaller particles to the bottom. Next you grab a small handfull and throw them up above the desired area, they float down and creat a pattern, you toss more in the area where you have empty space and work your way around the floor painting then tossing, in about 3 foot wide strips by what ever length you have.

Can I use this on a wall

Yes. Apply from about two feet with a sweeping motion of your arm. Only apply small amounts until you get your technique down.

Tan Blend Decorative Color Flakes is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from good product to hide some flaws Just moved into a 20 year old house in July 2016. Garage was never taken care of and the floor was pitted, discolored and just ugly. After patching and painting I used the flakes to hide the remainder of imperfections. Worked like a charm. Even had the neighbor comment how good it looked. Only thing I did off the directions was to use them a little more denser than recommended. One bag still covered the entire 2 car garage. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from product to be discontinued for some reason I couldn't find this product in any Seattle Store and their online inventory is not accurate. I drove a lot to a store where a lady told me they had five. I went there to pick them up only to find they only have one. A guy at the home depot told me this product is being descontinued. I wonder why.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful This is not worth buying. I bought Behr concrete paint and put this on it and all of it has come up. It does not stick to paint.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not much metallic flake Not worth the extra money. There appears to be a decent amount of silver flake in the package but there is very little showing once on the floor. I do not see any difference between the regular and metallic once used and my walls have 3' of corrugated metal so I thought it would tie in but no luck. I would only recommend this product if you wanted the black, gray and white that are also in the package (which I did).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from More than enough flakes an even distribution across 2 car garage! I was pleasantly surprised to find that the amount of color flakes included in the package of Behr Decorative Color Flakes was more than enough to adequately cover our 2-car garage, to our taste at least! We had plenty to spare after we distributed the flakes to our liking across the garage floor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Metallic flakes DB 3/21/13 If you use a shaker bottle, you should get the desire look of metal flakes reflecting light off the floor. We, delighted with the overall look and the amount of metal reflection we see on our garage floor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Behr Paint and Flakes I used Behr Porch and Floor paint on a concrete floor, we did two coats, then about two weeks later we applied a third coat and I sprinkled the flakes on. This is a summer Cabin that we have, we did not return for two weeks so the paint and flakes had plenty of time to dry, We love it, I want to apply a 'wet seal' but cannot find any information if I can or not, we would recommend Behr paint and the flakes to anyone.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from this product has very poor granule consistency I recently used this product to complete a garage floor i had epoxeyed. i was very disappointed . the very last step was to apply this product and it completely ruined my project. I am a professional and had done this many times before, including 1 month before with this very same product. . the consistency was great and as this floor is two doors down from the one i finished a month ago i am sure i will not get the contracts for the two other residents that inquired while i was in the base color phase. my floor is ruined and i am at a loss to explain this to my client. the granulate consisted of a very heavy "Black " content and made the floor look like it had been covered with pepper. . The black flakes seem to be much smaller and dominant in the package. i can not define to you how disappointed i am with this product.
