How do you measure height for toilet seat cover. Is it the cover length, or length from front of seat to back of bolt covers?

We need to replace wood Bemis toilet seats and I don't have the current model number. The current seats are elongated white and measure L 17 3/4 in.x W 14 in. x H 1 1/2 in. Bolt spread is 5 1/2. What would be the correct model to order?

Answer:
Toilet seats come in two shapes round and enlongated. As long as you know which seat style you have is the most important thing. The bolt spread is universal on toilets.

Answer:
Those sound like standard dimensions. If you download the Installation Guidelines PDF on the Bemis product page, it has a diagram that shows you how they define their dimensions. The bolt spread is the most important and is pretty much industry standard, the other dimensions only need to be within 3/8 inch or so for an acceptable fit and appearance.

I was only able to order these on-line. They were not available in the store. The internet number was #202757518. There is a picture of it on-line that may help. The thing that you want to make sure of and check- maybe even check with Home Depot when you call- is whether the height measurement is with the seat UP or DOWN as this will change that measurement and have an effect on the seat you will need. I hope this has helped some.

Hi Lilly,
To find out what size of toilet seat you need, you would measure the toilet bowl.
To measure the length, you measure from the center of the bolt holes to the front of the bowl rim. In general, there are to standard sizes: Round (sometimes called Regular) and Elongated.
Round seats usually measure in length approximately 16 1/2 to 16 3/4 inches, depending on model.

Hi Lilly,

To measure the length, you measure from the center of the bolt holes to the front of the bowl rim. In general, there are to standard sizes: Round (sometimes called Regular) and Elongated.

Elongated seats usually measure approximately 2 inches large ,18 1/2 to 18 3/4 inches.
Your seat model seems to be somewhere in the middle. Recheck your measurements for the length as described above. I've attached an image to help give a visual reference. Likewise, if you click on the "More Info" tab for this item and click on "Instructions / Assemble" you will get a size guide for helping determine what size of seat you have.
Once you know your size, you simply have to filter by the size to find a model best for you!
I hope that helps,

Answer:
Diva, As long as the measurements match up, this seat should fit any Toto toilet. Toilet seats are available in two different sizes: round and elongated. Size is determined by the length of your toilet bowl. The length is measured from the CENTER of the bolt holes on your toilet to the front of the bowl. Round bowls measure 16.6 inches and elongated bowls measure 18.5 inches.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Smell The ONLY problem I have with this toilet seat is that it smells. Even though I know my bathroom is clean, it had sort of a urine smell to it. When I leaned over to smell the top of the toilet seat, THAT was the smell. It's the plastic. Anyone else have this problem? Is there anything on the market that will get rid of this smell? I like the toilet seat but need to get rid of that smell. June 13, 2016

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Product Installation was quick and easy. Easy to clean. Don't like that the part that locks the seat in place moves from the lock position which makes the seat move slightly. Nothing major. great value. April 30, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I can sit on this deal all day. Right color, right size, comfortable, easy to clean, looks good, durable, quick and easy to install, good material (wood), inexpensive, fast and online delivery, from Home Depot!, what can you ask for more... June 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Product This is a no frills plain style toilet seat but very well made. Surface finish, construction, and quality control are all excellent. The complete installation, to include removal of the old seat, takes about five minutes. Bolts are plastic which means they last forever, do not corrode, require very little torque to fully tighten, are more than strong enough for the job, an ordinary flat blade screw driver is the only tool required, and the elasticity of the plastic bolt holds it in compression naturally so that it never needs re-tightening. I installed mine on a Crane toilet, the alignment and fit were perfect. September 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quality seat The correct replacement seat was available within approx 7 days and at half the cost of a major competitor. February 3, 2015
