Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by yu888 Corrosion of Hinge a REPEAT issue
With a young boy in the house, a slamming toilet lid is both a noise and hazard issue so we have been replacing the toilet lid each time with this slow closing model. BUT each time the hinge has corroded within 12-18 months despite Bemis' assurance that they allegedly will last far longer. Obviously the designers do not have boys in the house. At $60 every 12-18 months its a bit pricey but its still better than the plastic lids but do be careful as when the corroded hinge breaks, it really breaks loose. Am changing to a different brand and slow close hinged model next time...fingers crossed. You have been warned.

Bought mine in 2009. Came back to get another for someone else. I'm not one to clean but twice/year so I guess after 5 years I should expect some degradation in the material but mine has not failed as much as others. I kind of expected the slow close mechanism to give out or loose its effectiveness. Instead it works as good as it did the day I bought it. The rest of the components are still good as new. If I could purchase new hinges I would - and keep them clean :-)
I'm taking it with me when I sell the house.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Shirle one of the better toilet seats we have bought
Seems to last as long as most toilet seats do. This is our 3rd seat. We have 2 bathrooms and this replaced one like it that was several years old and finally the seat broke from a lot of use. Closes without slamming which probably helps extend its life also. Also a nice looking seat.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DWD60 Visually attractive commode seat. Nice lines. Comfortable.
I like a lot the way this seat looks in my bathroom. The brushed nickel hardware connecting the seat to the commode is attractive and functional. The seat itself feels comfortable when you sit down. Also, the lid doesn't slam. It eases smoothly. The one suggestion I have for improvement? For installation, there should be a clear picture showing exactly how to connect the pieces when installing. Not sure which screw, washer or nut is turned in the right direction or placed in proper order. Just kept working on it, trial and error, til I think I got it attached correctly. Better or clearer directions on installing .... a diagram so simple and clear that the most inept non mechanical person could figure it out by matching the pieces with the picture.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by sueinmaine corroded within a year- do not buy!
This toilet seat was a dream the first few months (no slamming in a house of boys). However, after less than 1 year the cheap metal started to corrode. This was very expensive compared to other toilet seats and I am disappointed that this product was very misrepresented as being high-end. It looks terrible and I will have to replace it. I will go with a slamming toilet that is what it seems to be over this over-priced item!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by STANMAR725 GREAT PRODUCT
I really like the slow close feature because if I drop the lid, it will not make any noise during the night that would wake up people.
