We're pretty hard on our stuff and no, it didn't scratch up easy. However, the first one we purchased cracked. I think it might have just been a weak area on the seat.

This toilet seat looks sleek and stylish. It hasn't scratched yet. I like that it closes without slamming shut. It's easy to clean. I wipe it down with a little soft scrub. Boys can be rough on things. None of my 12 year old toilet seats are scratched. Only have had this 'No Slam' for one month. It appears it will last me more than 12 years. Try soft scrub cleanser.

I've not had a problem with scratches. I use a damp rag with dish soap to clean it and haven't had a problem with the finish which is a very durable type of paint. Of course, boys can be tough on many household items. I know, I have four boys.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a fan, will be looking for a better seat. I've installed seats like this before but this went south right from the start. It may work for some toilets, not for my old one. Also I thought it had partial metal fastenings as it had on the store display model. Seat has too much side movement which was why in part I bought it along with slow closure. It is solid regardless, but the seat won't go up all the way, and the ring has to be held if you are standing as you are using it. I can't take it back now as it didn't fare well in the installation. I will however be buying another better one soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT VALUE Tried 3 other plastic seats each one kept loosing and were very uncomfortable to sit on. This seat is wooden and a great buy. Very comfortable and looks a lot nicer then the plastic seats. The weight of the wood makes a difference. This is a no slam seat and is very easy to install. No 'hand up under the toilet to tighen . Just use a rachet and your done . Very easy instructions. Seat stays tight and doesn't move even with a heavy person using it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Replacement! We had to replace our original toilet seat from when our home was built in 2005. I carefully searched because I wanted to make sure I had the same thickness as the original Bemis we had since some can be a bit thin. I was not at all disappointed. It was easy to install and, with the exception of the hole being just a touch smaller in circumference, feels just about the same as our first one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs redesign This toilet seat needs redesigning. If you move around on the seat, the first thing that comes apart is the hinge nut. Then, the fastener pops off the post. I'm still trying to figure out how to modify the hinge nut to attach it permanently. This isn't the first one of this brand I've bought. They made a slight change to the locking hinge, but it didn't solve the problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Product. Easy to install...BUT... I really liked how easily it was to install. It's a quality well made product. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I could not find any instructions or videos on how to remove and clean or replace it with another one. There are videos on how to initally install it...but none showing how to remove, clean and replace this should I need to in the future.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Seat scratched-up within 48 hrs!! Installed nicely. Seat is whisper-quiet. Poor QA on the finish. Unfortunately, the seat was scratched-up within 48 hrs due to the family ring I wear on my right hand. That ring never leaves my finger & the Kohler seats I've used for over 15 years have NEVER had a single scratch. Will never willingly buy another Bemis product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lids Above The Rest! Once I got the hang of it, I was able to install the lid with success. It is a very sturdy, stable seat and lid. This is an all-lids-closed home so the slow, silent close is my favorite feature. It is worth the extra cost for that and the fact that it will last longer because of it. I'm buying another for our cabin toilet.
