I have a 4 year old boy who slams both the seat and lid. I'm looking for a solution. Please recommend another model if this product doesn't slow close on both the seat and lid.

Yes. I guess that your son enjoys the sound of the slam. At that age, I did, too. He'll have to work to get this lid to go down & make a sound.

I think that this model would be an excellent choice for your situation. The seat and lid are lightweight and do not slam at all. I know for certain that the lid closes slowly, and smoothly, and I have had no problems with the seat falling abruptly.

Answer:
The actual bolts are brass, so no....they shouldn't corrode or rust. The actual connection mechanism to the toilet seat is based upon a nylon (or plastic) type of compression device which operates similar to snaps on a western shirt. This snap on / snap off device is connected to the bolts.
Not sure why the bolts on this type of installation would be submerged in water though.

Answer:
Yes, they will rust. They were not designed for continual submersion. It may be possible to substitute one of our “plastic bolt and nut” hardware kits in place of the metal bolt one. Please contact our Consumer Care Department at 1.888.722.6488.

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 59 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by The slow close doesn't last and the seat moves. I bought 2 of these seats about 12-months ago. On the 1st one, the seat does not stay put, it slides around. I found that the cause of this was that the "plugs" that attach the seat to the cover and prongs slides out of place slowly every time someone lifts both the cover and the seat. I have to use a rubber mallet to pound the part back in, but it evenly always starts to pop out. The 2nd seat the slow close doesn't work anymore. It slams shut whenever you close it and since it is near a bedroom it wakes up the occupants at night. You would think that for a $40 toilet seat that they would last July 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Slow close toilet seat We have replaced all our seats with the slow close. It only takes a very soft push. Great for the boys in the house! August 9, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Slow Close Lasts 12-24 months I bought four of these to replace all my regular toilet seats. At first they were great and I was very satisfied but one by one, the slow close mechanism has broken on all of these in the 12-24 month time frame. It just does not last. Unfortunately the warranty is 12 months. So mine did outlast the warranty but should get longer life before they break. July 13, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Seat cover This toilet seat cover was a replacement for my old one. It was less expensive than my original one and not as sturdy but does the trick. I thought this was a good option as I didn't want to spend a lot of money. July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good value The seat was easy to install. We prefer the full plastic seat and top. We were concerned about their being durable enough but that is not an issue since we have used it for a few weeks. June 28, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bemis Toilet Seats I previously installed inexpensive toilet seats from a large mass retailer. They began to "fail" within the year. The seats would move side to side and in fact, "fall" off the side of the toilet when anyone sat on them. I purchase this higher quality toilet seat and so far, so good. It was easy to install, seems to fit better, and I am hoping that it will not move about after time goes by. The attachment system seems to be better than the less expensive seats. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Customer support: Replaced even slightly past warranty period because the Soft-Close stopped working Nice and quiet, easy to clean. Best part is Bemis Customer Support stood behind their warranty after the slow close stopped working. Sent me free replacements. June 21, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Slow close stopped working in less than a year it worked great for about 10 months, now it just slams shut like every other cheap toilet set. And there is only my wife and I in the house. Disappointed, was expecting this to last longer than that.. June 25, 2016
