Product Overview

Introduced in 1936, the original BESSEY malleable cast iron bar clamp was the world’s first bar clamp. Clamp with traditional wood handles are still available and quite popular however, many models are now also available with composite plastic handles as well as with tommy bar (sliding pin) handles. Many of these Clamps have also been fitted with replaceable pressure pads that are easily replaced, and allow for replacement of damaged spindles.

  • BESSEY anti-slip set screw is molded into the sliding arm and interlocks with the serrated rail to prevent slippage
  • Corrugated malleable cast iron fixed jaw and sliding arm generate powerful, rigid clamping and the top jaw is press fitted to rail with no mechanical fasteners to loosen
  • High quality profiled steel rail acts as a reliable reinforcement against torsional forces, while the serration on six faces additionally prevents the clamp from slipping
  • Hardened, smooth running spindle with acme thread means quicker clamping action
  • Comfortable composite plastic handle

Rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Durable and Sturdy. Strength not compromised by throat depth One problem I have found with clamps that have a deep throat is that when I crank down on them the frame distorts and pushes assemblies out of alignment. Not a problem with these clamps. I can really crank down on these. I thought I would not like the plastic/rubber composite handles, but they are just a s good...actually, they are better than the wooden handles on some of the other clamps I have. I got one of these through the seeds program and was so impressed that I immediately bought 3 more to make a complete set. Tip to beginners. Unless you are making some sort of dedicated jig that only needs one clamp, it's generally a good idea to buy clamps in multiples of four. August 6, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Heavy Duty Clamp This is a "big" small clamp. The 4" throat depth and heavy steel tongs make this a very strong and sturdy clamp. It puts maximum pressure when and where needed. It's extremely well-made and I would expect it to last a long time. One minor warning; the red plastic "feet" on the ends of the tongs can slip off, so you have to keep an eye on them. March 12, 2015
