Product Overview

  • Ideal for Palms, Cycads, and Ornamentals
  • Formulated with Minor Nutrients for Optimum Performance
  • Used by Commercial Growers
Palms, ferns, cycads, ixora, and ornamental plants need ample amounts of nitrogen, potassium, magnesium, iron, sulfur, and other micronutrients to produce lush green growth and vibrant colors. PalmGain 8-2-12 palm fertilizer is the easy way to ensure plants have these meaningful elements. Feed every 4 to 6 weeks throughout the growing season. In areas where there is a threat of frost, feed every 4 to 6 weeks from February to September. Do not fertilize immediately when planting palm trees. Wait about 4 to 6 weeks after planting when you're sure adequate soil water content is achieved and risk of transplant shock has passed. Spread the palm fertilizer evenly over the soil surface, within the drip line of the plant but away from the trunk. Scratch lightly into the soil surface to work the fertilizer into the soil. Be sure to avoid damage to shallow roots. Do not throw fertilizer down the crown of the plant. Do not apply PalmGain palm fertilizer to dry soil. Be sure to water the area well before and after fertilizing. Take care to brush or wash fertilizer granules off leaves to prevent leaf injury. For plant beds, apply one full 10 lb. bag per 500 sq. ft. Water soluble fertilizers are good both for spraying leaves (foliar feeding) and for fertilizing plants, so supplement with BGI Grow and. Gain All –Purpose Liquid Fertilizer between feedings with PalmGain.

Questions & Answers

How much to use?

How much fertilizer do you use for a palm? Is it by height or trunk diameter? I have a canary island date palm with a very wide 4-5ft tall trunk and very long fronds. I also have a queen palm about 9ft tall trunk.
Asked by: jtxl
2 table spoons to the babies and 1 cup for each big Sago. I am not sure about Date Palm or Queen Palm. Call A&M horticulture shop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeps My Pygmy Date Palm Nice and Healthy I use this fertilizer on my quadruple stem pygmy date palm. I have it in a raised flower bed in my back yard. This is my second one. The first didn't survive the extreme heat we got last summer here in South Texas. This Summer is almost over and this palm still looks very good. This fertilizer kept it a lush green before the 100+ degree days began. It's a little stressed now but its in much better shape than the last one. Palm Gain is a keeper.
