Customer Reviews

1/3 Sheet Finishing Sander is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good for the price Very inexpensive sander. I had an older Black and Decker 1/3 sheet that I really liked. This feels a bit less stable and a little more fragile. That said, it does what I expect it to do and I may be more critical just because I was used to my old machine. I recommend this due to the low price. I would have expected more if I had paid more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great tool for the do it yourself type sander fits my needs to a T. Exactly what I was looking for. Ease of replacing paper a real bonus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth a lot more then the cost. I have had this sander for about two weeks and using it for sanding dry wall while hooked to a wet/dry vacuum cleaner. The dust is enough to cause problems for the sander. I had another make of sander that cost about the same and it lasted about 2/3 the time that this one has. This one is still running very smoothly with no indication of any problems. Also no problem of the sanding material staying on the sander.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK for short term use I should know better than to buy this model twice. Yes, they work, and if you install the papers correct, they work fine... for a while... these are not built to last! In the end, you end up spending more money throwing these cheap units away than if you buy something that is built to last more than one serious project (refinishing kitchen cabinet doors). Small jobs: OK Larger jobs: definitely not

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best 1/3rd Sheet Sander for the money I had the prior model for 10+ years and it finally gave up - wasn't the motor was thd mount that holds the bottom on. Could not find another 1/3rd sheet sander - lot of models are switching to the point shaped paper - which means you have to buy special paper. This model looks to have a better bottom mount and it is easier to put paper on then before.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Decent for the price I suppose I bought this based on the price, and how easy it was to swap out the sand paper. Unfortunately, the mechanism that makes it easy to swap the sand paper makes it fragile. I had to use rubber bands to keep enough tension on the quick release handles in order to keep the sand paper in place. Then after awhile, the metal handle broke...from the tension of two rubber bands. I've used the sander about 5 times for medium difficulty projects. Without the metal tension handle for the piece that keeps the sand paper on, it is useless. So, if it costs more than $5 to rent a sander, I guess this is worth it. I plan on spending a little more on a sander next time that will hopefully last a while longer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth the expense Although low in price with a brand name attached, I found it more hassle to deal with the shortcomings than keeping up with it. The main issue I had was that the clamping mechanism holding the sanding sheet was not doing it's job. The sheet became loose, had to be tightened again and after a few minutes it became loose again. Repeating that exercise often enough got me to my conclusion to return it to get it out of my eyes.
